I noticed that location from a working colleague and my son found this as well interresting so we decided to go there not knowing what will go on there. Agents get ready. Very nice concept I never saw before: light and sound installations, social interactions, agents, time travellers. A very nice experience, we spent almost 2 hours there - thumps up
My friends and I loved this exhibit and will definitely be going back again. It has some of the most beautiful and unique multimedia art in all of New York City — you just can’t experience stuff like this anywhere else. If you’re expecting Disneyland or something else you’ve seen before, that’s not what this is. It’s an exceptionally novel, mind-bending, interactive art installation.
Truly one of the most unique experiences you can have in NY. I’ve been twice and loved it both times so much! I brought my family the first time and it was amazing! They all loved it ages 19-40. The second time I brought my friends and we just couldn’t stop w all the interactive, fun stuff to see and touch. AN ABSOLUTE MUST SEE!
Wow! One of the best unexpected experiences ever! If you love space, philosophy and interaction with others, this is the place to be for YOU! I’d go back again in a heartbeat it was the best experience. They also had a floor that was the same design as my jumpsuit!! If I could give 10 stars I would! Thanks Zerospace and staff for the amazing time!
Life altering amazing experience, no!Fun and trippy yes. It reminded me of the laser shows from the late 80s at the Hayden Planetarium. There was supposed to be some message intertwined with the exhibit but the only one I heard was psychedelic drugs would help this experience tremendously
Was there for the PEWPEW.nyc event. It was absolutely amazing! The venue is surprisingly large. There were lots of rooms to explore and two music stages were set up. They had multiple bars. The projections and visuals throughout the event were top class, and there were lots of surprises like a guy riding around on a bicycle with a typewriter attached typing out poems for people. Loved the event, and would totally come back for another one.
Located in the now-defunct Statler Grill, ZeroSpace promises a lot but fails to deliver. Our first and main complaint is that there are simply not that much to see neither experience. The overall amount of light attractions is scarce, with most of them being quite ordinary; the light patterns are barely different from what your computer music player screen could display 20 years ago. With the exception of the first attraction, the spherical room, everything else ranges from unimpressive to outright boring. The sheer insufficiency is attempted to be compensated by the staffs little theatrics, none of each feels like anything more than an effort to fill the time slot. Some reviewers advise to explore the ZeroSpace resorting to the mood-enhancing aids; that perhaps would make your visit more exciting, but so would a mere looking at a wall do.
Museum - The price is most definitely not worth it. It was a nice place that I think $15 wouldve felt better. Small place and there wasnt much in there and the sand box is just sand with colorful light reflecting on it. The room with the bar just looked like a screen savor on the wall. I did highly enjoy the room that had the hanging grass looking thing from the ceiling which I couldve stayed for hours cause it really interacted with your mind, eyes, and body. The dome show was nice too but I wish it was a bit longer. Its a nice idea though but the place could be a million times better. How? Not too sure since I dont have that kind of artistic brain! It has great potential. The staff were very nice and it was a clean place. I get why the price has to be high though. Location, the cost to have all those lights, pay the staff etc.. Would I go again? No. Would I recommend it? Not until the price drastically drops. Especially because of parking. I wouldve been extremely unhappy had we not hit the lottery and found a parking spot right in front of the place.
We attended this show during previews. It was a great experience to bring the whole family to. The technology is incredible and the story was funny and interesting and invites you to reflect on being human. The final activity I was required to do with my group member was heartfelt. I think they are still working on the show so excited to see how it evolves.
This place is like nothing I’ve experienced before. It was better then I expected and I would recommend it to anyone looking to participate in something other worldly. I’m going to be purposely vague to not give anything away.Pros:-The most comfortable bean bag chairs I’ve ever sat it.-Colors and bright lights are mesmerizing.-People in the facility were committed to what there doing.-I felt as though I could spend several hours at any one exhibit-UniqueCons:-Loud people and Instagram models don’t care how the effects others experiences.-The exhibits are awesome but there’s only a handful of them, those with short attention spans might go through this place in 45 minutes, however we spent over 3 hours.-All music could have been twice as loud.-It got very crowded at one point and made it difficult to talk with those working there but people filtered out fairly quickly and order was restored. You get out of this whatever you put in. Come with an open mind and be respectful of others. Leave you cellphone at coat check and be in the moment. I will be going back in the future, I hope they find a way to keep things fresh!
My husband and I went to the museum with my brother and sister-in-law. It was a real treat to experience this environment at our own pace and share the things we noticed. I love to talk about shapes and colors and stuff. As another reviewer said, it is a great place to find yourself. That being said, you can’t be in a hurry and get the most out of it. You have to be ready to clear your mind and just be. Possibly a good place to visit for kids with sensory differences... I gave it four stars because we had 3 o’clock tickets and they kicked us out at 5 PM. I feel like I could’ve spent more time there because there were pieces I missed. Also, some of the wonderful technology was big on newness, but hamfisted. Like it was done in a rush. Could’ve been designed with more elan. I’m definitely a satisfied customer though.
We had a blast!! I took my artistic mom and we had so much fun watching all the colors and movement. We loved seating in the dome and watching the amazing light show, walking in the moving color floor that swirls, the interactive screens that made our bodies warp! So fun to take photos. Great ambience. Great value for the price and close to a subway stop!!
Such a cool experience. i didn’t know what to expect and was totally blown away but just the audacity that someone woulddo this subtle work of brilliance in midtown. it’s to off brand for midtown. it’s so weird and fun and dark and reflective. loved the bathrooms as well, super intricate lighting, next level production levels for each of the 15 installations. all in all i was just really pleasantly surprised. good work guys
Really awesome experience! Its not just an art exhibit, but a sort of adventure. There is a role playing and social aspect to the show portion of the exhibit, but you are absolutely not pressured to proceed. Some rooms have bean bag chairs to enjoy the display while others are extremely interactive.Awesome date night.
Absolutely the most fun you can have with your shoes on - what a blast! The art, elixirs, aliens, lasers, sounds, and staff were a great deal of fun. Could have stayed for hours but had dinner plans. Escape reality, indeed. You do feel transported to another dimension without the experience being contrived or scary. Ill be going again.
By far the coolest immersive art experience in the New York area! I went with zero expectations (no pun intended) and left absolutely blown away! This is kind of a tough review to write as there really aren’t word for what I felt. “WOW!” keeps coming to mind. You’re invited in at the specific time you booked as they don’t want to crowd the space. I never felt rushed to leave as I sometimes found myself lost in the spiraling, colorful lights above, & beautiful music. The space was visually stimulating creating and out of this world & body experience. The actors were wonderful and interact with you. They asked questions that really made you open your heart which fit in perfectly with the experience.I suggest going with a friends or even alone! I can’t wait to visit again
Very interesting experience, best as a group. We spent about 2.5 hours inside without getting bored. Some rooms to relax and enjoy a fantastic light and sound show, some interactive games and the chance to encounter a mysterious entity from another dimension. Overall a great experience.
I went with a group of about 20 people on a Friday night, not knowing what to expect. Immediately upon my arrival, I felt like I was going to get transported into another dimension. The people working there were fantastic and played the part well. My overall experience was stellar. I felt like a kid again and felt connected to not only the beauty of shapes and colors but to human beings.
I attended a preview show, and it is out of this world! The set design, the technology, the costumes are all incredible. Mind blowing. Great performances from all the performers, totally transporting. Plus some truly tasty space age drinks to try out!Honestly blown away by Zero Space, and can’t wait to see how it continues to grow and develop - I’ll be back for sure!
Very fun experience. Starts off with a chaperoned experience by actors then when that concludes and you are left to explore and interact as you desire. Great visuals. A bar is available prior and during the experience and they have a free bag check. Expect to spend an hour or two there.
Great installations and cool storyline. It got you out of your comfort zone without feeling awkward and the scale of the installations allowed you to feel completely immersed in the concept. You could totally do this either alone or with friends and have a good time. I 100% recommend it!
I went when it first opened back in august and then went again a couple weeks ago and both times i have enjoyed myself there. they changed things up so it was nice to see the visuals presented differently although some of what was on display was the same. no complaints though since i still enjoyed it. i would make sure to go when you are not in a rush or on some tight schedule. its actually quite nice to just lay there and/or relax to the audio/visual program they have worked on.
I visited Zero Space yesterday with my wife and son who’s 10 and this experience was better than we Expected. It was great to see my son interact with the art. It felt small but if you take your time to enjoy each piece you get your monies worth. I would love to come back to the night show got the experience.
This was truly incredible. It starts off a bit overly theatrical and ridiculous, but once you’re in it’s mind blowing. Really relaxing and almost like a hallucinogenic experience. Like a dream. Highly recommended. Don’t smoke weed before though, as there’s way too much going on before actually going in. Too many people around. But it’s trippy enough an experience on its own.
This colour jungle was a lot of fun, its designed well and you can spend several hours there. Its a little bit smaller than expected, the photos are suggesting that the place is huge. Also, the narrative suggests that we are meeting a friendly peaceful species but other staff are dressed in thick special forces armour which gives off the vibe that the entities are not friendly. Otherwise - can only highly recommend. Be curious, and ask ask ask (Hint). :)
I went to ZeroSpace the other night and had a great time!! The art installations are incredible, and the actors were so talented and dedicated. I liked that you could make the experience as interactive as you wanted, and could choose to interact with the actors or just explore on your own. Would definitely recommend!
I have already been twice and it was just as fun if not better than the first time. I was happy to see a few modifications to the exhibit and feel it will keep on getting better and better. Whether you take the time and be meditative on your own, go with a group of friends, or interact with perfect strangers in an engaging manner, expect all your senses to be engaged and have pretty much the best time you could possibly have in midtown manhattan.
Really amazing experience to immerse in digital art and lose track of time & everyday stress! Went with a big group of people (most of whom I didn’t know beforehand) & returned “back to Earth” with wonderful new friends - nothing quite bonds you like an extraterrestrial mission!. Also had an incredible experience describing love & poetry to — it got deep and was beautiful & cathartic. Thanks so much for a unique & artsy Friday night and will definitely be back!
We had lots of fun. I don’t know your name but I want to thanks the staff who was goofing around with my children’s while we waited (we were early), such a great spirit! We booked for 11am on Saturday, it was not crowded at all and could appreciate fully every space. The overall experience was really great and I recommend this
Disappointing, overpriced and waste of time pretty much describes the place. The whole thing takes less than 20 minutes, including visiting all rooms. If you want an overpriced drink in a plastic cup you can add 10 min. The installations are outdated and basic. I didnt understand what part of the experience was the show with 12 actors for extra $15. You enter, hear instructions and let loose to explore. I really tried to like it and diligently went through all stations but there is just nothing to the place. I gave two stars instead of one because the staff was very friendly and nice. What a ripoff otherwise.
We had an incredible time at Zero Space, staff was kind and welcoming, and we were able to go about the exhibit at our own pace and really appreciate all the art. The experience itself definitely is like no other, and somehow it was all very relaxing. We spent most of our time lying down in the forest, would highly suggest.-Phil
I went last Friday, and will say it is a trippy experience. I enjoyed the whole experience of basically being in an alternate dimension. You can just chill out play in the sand or relax on the beanbags to observe the different light shows or get into solving the puzzles to possibly be abducted by the entities and brought into one of the top secret rooms. These entities will choose you. It is an eye opening adventure
I didnt even complete the entire experience but I loved it. My only regret was not having any neurotropic enhancers to enjoy the amazing light show. 😉. I have so many friends I would love to bring here! My only suggestion would be to allow the patrons more time in the bar area and the bar set up.. Just from a business owners perspective. Otherwise a fun experience!
I first visited Zerospace through a work event a couple of months ago, and I decided to visit a second time more recently when I had family visiting. I wanted to take my family for a non-touristy but still unique / interesting experience and thought they would enjoy this. They had a blast! Everything from the art to the “entities” to the employees in character was superbly done, from the very moment you start the journey to the time you exit. There are a ton of cool photo opps, puzzles to solve, and interactive activities. Definitely seek out missions from the agents. These are fun puzzles designed for bonding within your groups and for meeting new people. It was really cool interacting with the entities as well — they’ll come by and communicate with you, and some people get chosen to be taken to the secret room to learn more about them as well. This was a very neat experience and we’re glad we visited!
An unmatchable experience! It’s immersive theatre, it’s interactive art, it’s stimulating and beautiful, and you decide your level of participation. My friend and I went to check it out and took different paths. It was so easy for us to make new friends because the space activates playful wonderment in almost everyone who comes through it’s doors. This girl and I joined up together and discovered a secret mission. While following it’s path and completing fun tasks we got to know each other and reflect on how we interact with the world. This is totally the purpose of the space. What we learned about each other and ourselves was great but not uncomfortably heavy. In fact, I laughed more than I had in awhile! The staff and actors were cute and helpful, and the elixirs were delicious! I highly recommend the one with cocoa. This is definitely a place to explore.
I came to this place while on a tab last year and it was the most amazing experience ever. Seriously felt like I was on a different planet in a different universe. I didn’t even realize there was a time limit bc I was in there for about 3 hours. I felt reborn when I left. Come to this place on psychs trust me
The concept of creating art with moving lights on various mediums is very cool, there were a few interactive pieces and some that were beautiful projections, I enjoyed it for about 20 mins. The experience in the dome and what I’m calling the light forest were my favorite. That said, we paid for the “show” and I was really into it in the beginning, the actors were engaging and funny but once we reached the other dimension, or whatever, we didn’t experience a commitment to the plot on the agents part. When we approached an agent for our second assessment we were given some sassy/rude speech and no second assessment. We’re not exactly the extroverted types so we gave up on the whole mission completion portion of the show. The exhibit overall was disappointingly small. $50 is too pricey for an experience that was limited and not nearly as grand as all the ads showed.
Awesome experience. It was a nice concept & interacting with others in NYC felt so refreshing! Beautiful designs, relaxing corners, mesmerizing light shows and playfulness and overall a pretty Zen experience! The actors were committed and it was cool to be open to the experience and to the dimensional concepts ;)
Cool lights show but definitely not worth the 50$ thank god i had a promo code!At the beginning they make you think that you ll have to find clues and that you ll have to work with the other people who enter at the same time as you. The first 15 min are completely misleading. The “actors” are really bad too. Also they should have more music playing.Or maybe you need to be high to really enjoy it :)
I loved this place. My one major issue. Being a photographer I confirmed with them before I went and when i gave my ticket, i could take photos with my camera. As I waited to enter I was then told i could not photograph and then had to check my professional camera in their coat check and had to pay for it. The shows were great..the process is not.
Incredible. A psychedelic digital playground in the middle of Manhattan! When I first walked in I didnt know what to expect, but was ecstatic to see installations by some of my favorite Burning Man artists as well as incredible projection mapping and interactive installations to play with. Cant wait to see how the space evolves in the future. I highly recommend you all go check it out!
When I checked out the zerospace full experience I wasnt really sure what to expect. I figured there would be some cool light art, I would wonder around for like 30 and head out. It was so much cooler than that. Ive tried a few times to explain it to my friends but it is so difficult to capture. Even the pictures and videos dont really do it all. The closest description Ive come to is an alien light/sound/tech immersive art exhibit social experiment. It is cool and weird and peaceful and exciting all at the same time. If you really want to get the full pact Id highly recommend interacting with the actors and guests around you but if thats not your thing you can still have one of the most peaceful experiences of your life just walking around and observing. I stayed for two hours and only left cause it closed. Ill definitely go back.Edit: after reading some other reviews I want to expand. Yes, the interaction with the actors can be awkward at first. They dont give you direction on that but I think thats important. Some people really arent into interacting and trying to force it or imply its necessary would be really uncomfortable for them. I like that they leave that part entirely up to you. If you arent sure what to do just walk around and observe at first. It took me probably 45 minutes before I finally forced myself into interacting with other people.Second note, I dont smoke but if you are the type of person to indulge in enhancing your perception this is definitely a time for that.Third: this place is NOT a competition. This is a place to relax, clear your mind, and reflect. If you are not the type of person who would enjoy just chilling for a few hours this isnt for you. Keep that in mind when you read some of the negative reviews and put those reviews in perspective. Im amazed how little chill some people have.
Walked in and had to wait for a friend to arrive. The staff happily let us wait past our appointed time. Then we entered zero space. The staff welcomed us in, and we were blown away by the electric displays. We spent an hour and a half here. Zero Space was a great experience, and I would highly recommend this to anyone.
Not worth the money! I did the 50 dollars with actors and expected a lot more out of this experience. I could have went to 2 great museums with that money and would have had a way better experience. Heck I could have stayed home and stared at the ceiling with some strobe lights/music and would have had a better experience lol! The coolest thing that I thought was worth going for was a room with that orb type strobing light effect. Overall its only worth 20 dollars or less. I feel like I was ripped. Off! If you guys want a show go to Broadway and if you want a museum go to one. I dont see how this place was branded a museum!
The entrance experience was great and builds a lot of anticipation, but you find yourself in a space with a dozen or so light oriented art installations with some characters youre unsure of how to interact with. The interactions with the actors are supposed to be thought provoking if you are the least reflective person on (or off) Earth or a 12 year old. There is no storyline to speak of. I was sure there was more to the experience to discover and unlock, but no.
The art work and ensemble of lights in most exhibits reaches out and around you. There are complete audio visual experiences here. The atmosphere is extremely relaxing (I accidentally took a brief nap) and youll find yourself returning to your favorite exhibits to experience them longer.
Really enjoyed my night at ZeroSpace. Incredible art unlike anything else you can see in NYC, or just about anywhere! Lots of different exhibits to see and no rush to go from room to room. Loved that you can keep going back to see certain things and take as much time as you like to enjoy it all. Gives you a chance to see things you might have missed the first time through.Id recommend for people of all ages.
My wife and I (both in our 70s) took our 16 year old grandson and a friend to ZeroSpace. We all enjoyed the entire experience. the staff was excellent an professional and interacted with us, and all the volunteers in our group perfectly, and on script. We highly recommend ZeroSpace and plan on bringing our 7 year old grandson very soon. He will be thrilled and delighted with the entire experience also.
I love this place! I think it all depends on when you go though. I have been twice now and the first time i went I was amazed but the installations but found the overall experience to just be so-so. I went for the second time this past weekend when some friends were visiting and wanted something to do.. and WOW! They were absolutely blown away. Loved the body and mind enhancing Elixers, the beautiful blend of lights and sound, the one-on-one interviews and the sand installation. The actors were much better this time (maybe more well rehearsed?) and the whole experience seemed to be more fluid. I think its all about your mindset, expectations and what you want to get out of it. I laid in the mirror room for probably 30 minutes, just watching the light show and found it to be very therapeutic. One of NYCs must sees!!
I dont know WHY people are being so negative! Zerospace was an incredible exhibit!! I really havent experienced anything like it, the closest I can compare it to are a planetarium dark side of the moon immersive video/light show at the Museum of natural science houston, Avatar, and Yayoi Kasumas mirrored infinity rooms. Staff were super nice! My plane home was delayed and they were able to reschedule my ticket for free!I had my debit card fall out of my pocket in one room and it was returned to me by their staff before I even realized i dropped it! There were multiple rooms with different large scale LED light shows paired with beautiful ambient music. There were a few other interactive art pieces that were more hands on, and Id say that light and AI tracking played a major roll in all of the different art pieces. The loose plot of the event is alien based and introspective, disconnecting and living in the moment to enjoy an experience without worrying what people think of you and what you post. If youre worried about interacting with the actors, dont worry! The arent going to have you stand up in front of people and make a show out of you or have you do improv. I had 3 interactions with the aliens, one right away when I took the time to linger in one area while the rest of the group went ahead, they walked me around the exhibit, took me to a room and began to dance, I decided to join in! The other two were tailored to things I was doing, I made a portrait in the sand and had an interaction with an alien about it and was pulled into another room to be interviewed by one. It was a great talk about the human form and self worth. Another alien took me in a private room to speak after noticing my zodiac necklace and we talked about astrology, and crystals, they even gave me a small crystal to add to my collection that they or I wasnt able to identify. Also one review mentioned there not being lasers and the event being cheap and I HIGHLY disagree. There was definitely a room with lasers and the light effects and programing a light show isnt cheap or easy. From the costumes, music, the the projections and the tactile interactive piece, the basic plot and message was all very cohesive. The exhibits were just as beautiful as Kasumas infinity rooms, except you dont have people posting selfies and staff arent giving you a time limit in any of the rooms. The way I see it, the more you go into it with a sense of adventure, open mindedness and curiosity the better the experience. The more you bring to the experience, the more youll get out of it. Dont go into it expecting anything, and dont rush through the rooms waiting to find out whats in the other rooms. The best way to enjoy the exhibit is to lose track of time and take your time in all of the rooms. If youre rushing through all the rooms spending a couple minutes in each youre going to miss out on a cool experience and interactions. It wont last long if you rush through.Lay down in some rooms, walk around others and feel the different effects of spinning shadows and lights, sculpt with the sand, and interact with the actors where you can. Eat something beforehand, maybe have 2 drinks before going, and go when you dont have any plans scheduled to rush to, theres no way to tell time there! Take you time! The experience lasted 2 hours for me and I was taking my time and left feeling really good about myself especially after my conversations with the aliens. If you like interactive and immersive art, mandalas, rainbows and light effects youll love it!
Wow... just... wow...What a brilliant concept and so incredibly executed. Every turn was something unique and thought provoking.Youre whisked away to another dimension to learn about peace and letting go. When you come back to the real world youre left wondering if you really left at all? Am I still there? Am I still chasing after the elusive entities to learn from their omniscient wisdom??I will be going back. I feel like I have to share this with other friends who will take something out of it.Great job ZeroSpace team!
Zerospace was an awesome experience. They really take you on a journey to another world. The visuals and art alone are worth the visit but rarely do you come across an experience in NYC where you have to make new friends and interact with new people to accomplish a goal. That was pretty cool. Definitely recommend!
I had a blast at zerospace! It made me feel like I was going to another universe/dimension. I really enjoyed the interactive sandbox and the day we left field art because I got to lay down on a beanbag chair, listen to the music, look at the lights and just relax. The whole experience just blew my mind!
So there’s a lot you can take from something like this that is great and not so. Actors are human and that’s difficult to control so you may get awesome Immersiveness with them or not but that’s why you go in with an open mind and create your own fun which luckily this place offers every opportunity to do so. We messed around with everything and everyone. My suggestion is to geek out and play. If you’re not in the mood to play then go at a better time for you or take/drink something. The experience is Dope!!! The lights/art is incredible, its a huge playground of comfort, sound and art. The actors were super immersive at the beginning then it’s up to you to play with them. This sometimes takes effort on your part and there is a lot going on so following the story line is tough at first but you ask questions, which I got better at, and it becomes an immersive experience. I ended up spending about 2.5 hours there and met some interesting patrons from all over the world. All in fun experience. Worth it. I learned a lot and noticed I was more chatty with random people I met out in the city later that night because you realize we’re all on this spinning rock in the middle of space and all love chocolate.
Super cool place to explore!! it was a very unique and creative experience- i loved all of the interactive bits, as well as all of the special rooms to check out! would definitely go back!!! all of the actors do a great job to immerse the audience into the world they created!
I usually like immersive/interactive pieces, but absolutely hated this. Some cute tech installations and that’s all. There are costumed actors who you’re supposed to interact with - if you feel like begging strangers for interaction. Forced to interact with other patrons as well, not something my socially anxious self really wants to do - or at least let me know that’s what’s expected BEFORE I’ve been inside for 30minutes. Rude and unhelpful employees complete a terrible experience. If they had been upfront about any of this, I would not have bought a ticket. Instead, I feel very ripped off and am discouraging anyone and everyone from attending. Appears that the vast majority of good reviews are from people connected to it in some way.
Was visiting NY and my cousins took me to visit this place. Think Escape room + Visual exhibits. Great place to fill up your insta feed with cool photos. There were 5 of us and we spent about 2 hours just chilling and solving some tasks that the volunteers give us. 1 of us even got selected by the entity.
I loved it. It’s super weird and different and I can see how some people maybe weren’t ready to get all the beauty that’s inside of it. It’s a place for you to learn about you and take some time out of the craziness of NYC to reflect and chill. The art is mesmerizing, the elixirs refreshing and imaginative and if you just take a second and absorb the story unfolding before you, you will be amazed what can happen.
Incredibly fun but forsure spring for the Show, not the Museum. We ended up spending 2.5 hours there performing the tasks at our leisure and immersing ourselves in the exhibits inbetween and I felt very good about the experience overall approaching it leisurely. Especially fun if you assume a character of sorts. I took my cues from the sort of dazed attitude of the staff and emulated that and it made the experience so much more engaging. I’ll be bringing my friends back forsure. Also works best if you have as little context going in as possible.
SO AWESOME. zero space took me out of my head and beautifully into the present; I got happily lost in this experience for a good couple of hours. Think Sleep no More meets Black Mirror.. sponsored by Headspace. Seriously. Oh and with a little dash of Stranger Things. There are interactive elements with actors and strangers which are fun/exciting/scary, and elements that encourage a solo meditative moment, lost in different senses. Very well orchestrated to guide you to shake of the city and be present in a new dimension. I have been twice now, will look forward to the next voyage, and taking more friends to experience this magic for the first time!
Really thought provoking experience. Wasn’t what I expected at all. But what I found really breathtaking was the art itself. Giant, gorgeous psychedelic breathtaking pieces you can really lose yourself in. I read some of the negative reviews and had hesitations but this place is simply stunning.
Do the show, dont just visit for the art! Not to say that the art isnt mesmerizing, but theyve got some real top notch actors in their and it takes the experience to another level! You can still spend hours looking at the art, but you also get to interact with the actors in there and they do know how to put on a show! Youre going to want to take the evening out of your calendar, I ended up spending over 4 hours there!
This experience was completely embellished! You begin with an introduction about what the experience is supposed to be about. Then you’re taking inside and the “actors” do a very brief, but clearly meaningless and unexplained performance and then without a word they disappear, leaving you wondering what to do. So we all just walk around the art installations, which takes no more than 10 min. It left me thinking....”is that it??” MINIMALLY FUN, AND COMPLETELY NOT WORTH THE $!!!
If you like going on an inter-dimensional trip then this is THE PLACE! The installations themselves are worth the visit. Do yourself a favor and go with a friend or group and take part in the interactive elements which are very immersive and personal. Easily spent four hours here. I HIGHLY recommend Zero Space. Go with an open mind, live in the moment.
I didnt like it at first, it was really cringey to me and I was feeling like I wanted to be anywhere else at the time. The more time I spent in there, though, the more I grew to like it a lot. By the end of my stay, I was already wanting to come back again (and I plan on it soon).I went from a 1 star on my first impression to a 5 star rating by the time I left. It just really resonated with me and left a lasting impression I wont soon forget.
Not worth 80$ for two adults. More like 10$ each. Was not worth it to be honest. It was cool and don’t get me wrong I love trippy lights - but it was beyond crowded and couldn’t even get to experience the rooms as they were crowded. Not much to see-everything is on the website to see. Complete rip off and would not recommend.
Ok so I read the cheesy corporate reviews and the more real negative reviews. I went into this a bit disheartened thinking it wasn’t going to be good and a waste of $$. My overall experience was beautiful and moving. The exhibits are stunning IF you allow yourself to get lost. I saw many people come up to an exhibit kinda giggle and walk away. You have to sit...let go of the outside world...and absorb. You have to let go of your ego. That’s the only way you will get something out of your time there. Sure the acting and interactive piece is a bit cheesy but if you drop your guard and get into it...it’s pretty moving. I cried with a random stranger but it was tears that needed to come out. I liked the “challenge” aspect but it did end up taking time away from seeing the exhibits and I ended up not getting to a few. It’s very existential and hippy dippy but if that’s your bag you will really love this. Staff are lovely and the event is very organized. My only two complaints were that we were escorted out at the 2 hour mark because the place was closing (I thought we would be allowed to stay as long as we wanted so I would come earlier if I came again) and they have a bar on the outside that had specialty drinks but it wasnt clear exactly what was in it (I want to say cold pressed juice mix). I actually didn’t mind the no cell phone policy because it was nice to not have to look at art around people taking selfies for a change. Overall I recommend this for an afternoon out of reality!
Zerospace was an interesting experience. A little sci-fi type of journey. For the first task we had to make a group of 6+ people. In an even number. Since everyone came in pairs and our group had a group of three we had a hard time finding just ONE person, willing to participate. On top of that since everyone was strangers we kept losing people. Finally an agent allowed us to work with 7 people, however there was a performance, and she said let’s regroup later. So we did, again having a hard time gathering 7+ people then asked another agent if we could do it. He said it had to be even. We told him that the other agent was willing to do it with an uneven amount of people and he decided to cut us off and say “then go find her” and left. This really left a bad taste in my mouth for the rest of my time there. There was one point where I needed the next prompt and the same rude agent was available but I literally went out of my way to avoid him. I probably would have had a better time if they had an alternative prompt for groups with uneven numbers and the agent wasn’t such a jerk about it. Not sure that I would recommend this place to anyone else.
Don’t bother. Definitely not worth the price. Much like all of the other pop-ups that have come around in the city lately there is no narrative, no story thread throughout. They spend about two minutes developing a story when you first start the experience then you are let loose in the one big room with three side rooms that have different A/V experiences. Maybe worth $10
My family and I went to this experience and it totally brought out the science nerd in all of us. Cool for adults and kids. Also had this in-house crafted beverage (cant remember the name but it was basically pineapple + ginger) which was super yummy. Cant wait to go back!
ZeroSpace was an incredibly immersive experience. I felt transported throughout the entire process. My interview process with the entity was a beautiful and emotional experience. Major props to the cast and creative team for a great theatrical event and to the artists for their transfixing installations. A definite must-see.
Light displays are really cool, but the storyline and actors are a waste of time. We spent at least 30 minutes wandering aimlessly because one of the actors dropped the ball and didnt tell us the intro to the mission. After we got on track it was impossible to get the attention of the couple of actors giving out marks and missions. We finally left feeling frustrated.
It was definitely an awesome treat! As soon as it started we were thrown into this futuristic hilarious scene with actors who are in full character! Then we were projected into this immersive interactive environment that gave me beautiful burning man flashbacks but more technologically superior! I raise my hat to the creators and thinkers of this project! We need more of this in the city!
Zerospace is PHENOMENAL. I won free tickets through a costume contest so I went for my birthday! It is much more than an interactive playspace. It has a deeper underlying theme and message of mindfulness, humility, and being present in the moment. All of the rooms are very tranquil. Be sure to spend a good amount of time in every room. Sit down and take it all in. The exercises that the agents have you do really allow you to look inward, & bring you a great sense of gratitude. The visuals are stunning. The whole show is above and beyond any of my expectations. The whole experience is beautiful, moving, & not to mention FUN! I would say it almost felt like ceremony.Im looking forward to going again! It would be really cool to see what I take in a second time. I really really appreciate everything about Zerospace and the intention behind it.Without giving too much away, the icing on the cake for my evening at Zerospace was that I was chosen to close the portal! I felt honored to do so!I recommend everyone go with an open mind and heart!
Zerospace is a thoughtfully created psychedelic playround with surprises I couldnt have imagined. Beyond the mesmerizing digital art, there are many interactive components (but I wont give too much away) that were a refreshing reminder of why I love New York City so much. The more you put into your experience, the more you get out of it. A beautiful metaphor for life, too! Hands down one of my favorite adventures of this year. Cant wait to go back again soon. Many thanks to the team behind it for all the hard work they put into creating a beautiful space for our inner children to come out and play!
The space is massive inside, had no idea this was right in midtown. Great art, and an interesting not everyday experience.I loved the forest lazer thingy room. Pretty lights and all.Entities interviews were an unexpected, but pleasant surprise. Shifting my perspective a bit.Cant wait to see what else is in store at zerospace.
ZeroSpace was absolutely fantastic! When I first arrived, I was a little nervous and wasnt sure what to expect.Once we got through the preliminary questionnaire, I was pleasantly surprised.I saw a lot of negative reviews from people who say they didnt understand.A word of advice: look deeper than the pretty lights and you will see what you came for. You have to slightly leave your comfort zone in order to appreciate what ZeroSpace truly has to offer.P.S. Ask the agents!
Whoa!!! Went on a lark and had no idea what to expect. Zero Space was 100% immersive and very out of body with art as the divine catalyst. A fabulous trip without anything but your mind and the Zero Space to take you on an amazing trip. Brilliant concept brilliantly executed. I will be back for more.
The whole place is really made up of about 9 (or so) small rooms. The first 3 are a kind of introduction, and youre moved in and out of them fairly quickly. The last of the 3 is an interesting planatarium like set up with 4D eliments. Its deffinatley cool but the moving chair part was really just a bunch of massage chairs with variable vibration. After that there is a room you can wonder in for a while and an objective to complete within. The rooms can be a good place to relax for a while, but it really only takes about 15min to see the pieces themselves before youre done. Its just not very dense. They do however do a good job of spacing out people so you can comfortably see it all.The most time consuming part of it is the objectivs. Most of which are simple, and all of which encourage you to interact and get to know strangers. At the end of each objective you have to find an agent, and I did often find myself frustrated with what I would discribe as a staffing shortage. We often had trouble finding agents and had to bug just one of them for just about every step. I ended up coming short of finishing it because of that staffing issue as well - not the agents but I wont spoil it.Tips: The mixed drinks 14+ and are non alcoholic. You will also have to be social. This was an impulse purchase for us after being unable to secure a ticket to the color museum. It was deffinatley a good time, and 100% worth the one time visit. But after an hour or two it was diminishing returns.
Amazing experience. Immersive tech, art, and theater--all in one. Shocked to see bad reviews. My experience was pretty mind blowing. If you have no imagination or curiosity or are unable to experience wonder and delight because of your own headspace--then this is not for you. You will likely be one of the many people griping about the acting or the effects because you cant get out of your critical head or too busy snapping selfies or taking videos of the experience rather than actually taking it in. If you can open up and be receptive to the experience and I mean actually pay attention and be curious you will love it and be thinking about your experience days later. I would pay to go again.
Overwhelmingly underwhelming. Absolutely not worth the admission cost. Worth $20 at most. While I appreciate the message they were conveying in the beginning, I expected much more in terms of the exhibits and light spectacles.. We left wondering was that it? Highly disappointing. Staff members were nice.
This is for the Show and not the Museum experience. The physical art and the exhibits are beautiful, instagram worthy and can be mesmerizing. The Show experience has potential to be much better IF a) the concept was explained better and b) the execution by the performers was more polished.Without giving too much away, if you do engage in the Show experience, you should listen to the storyline and more importantly you MUST engage with the performers in order to get the FULL experience (ie. Ask them questions, tell them your mission, just play along). If you buy the Show tickets and just watch the performers do their thing and leave, you may be disappointed. I am sure many people walk out after they see all the exhibits. Zerospace needs to do a better job communicating guests should interact with performers. The artwork mostly doesnt really have anything to do with the performance except to act as a setting/backdrop. There are some rooms you can experience only if you receive an invite from the non-speaking characters. I dont know if you get picked at random or if you can prove to them you have completed your mission. Note that if you do complete your mission, you may understand the social commentary that the Show is trying to make. One big gripe: The very first part of the Show has you entering your email & answering a bunch of questions. They try to weave it into the storyline but my paranoia tell this is purely data collection about you as I have seen this is other museums. Your responses have no impact on the rest of the Show. I tend to just use a fake email here.
Zerospace was a very interesting experience. An excellent way to open the mind and spark creativity. From in to out was about an hour, which was all that was needed to enjoy it.The only downside was the price - at $60/head it was a bit expensive. Costs could have been lowered by having fewer human resources.
🍄 We forget to be present. As humans we get so caught up in the daily grind of life we forget to take a moment to just be. At the end of the day, we can only just be, so be... I had a beautiful time at Zero Space with my fiancée. It was a great experience from start to finish. Entertaining, well put together, and enlightening, this was a really well put together experience. The conversation I had with a human in the mask was very beautiful as well.... Before leaving, My fiancée and I did what we do best, we created a sand mandala together around a flower she received from another beautiful human during the show. This will make you think, if you let it, this will make you feel. If you embrace it, you will leave refreshed.. Give it a go. Take a trip to another dimension. 🍄
Horribly misleading experience. The art was way, way below average.Far too crowded. Way oversold and no one seemed to enjoy it in the slightest. The whole thing felt like it was done as a cash grab, worth maybe $5. Actually the crowds wldnt be an issue if the overall feeling wasnt is this it? - youre joking...I went to the show version - maybe just the art event would be less crowded, and at least less expensive. As far as I can tell, the reviews on here are all paid for or friends of the ppl who work there. How many 5 star wow amazing best thing ever local guide reviews do you need?I was fooled too - just trying to save the next victim from feeling scammed. Hope you saw this one...
The advertisements make this place look way bigger than it actually is. The show was not really worth it and I wouldve been fine just getting the museum ticket and walking around. The show ticket is twice the price for not much. The installations are pretty cool, but you could be in and out of this place within an hour.
The idea and concept are pretty cool the execution is done okay but it feels like one of those low budget pop up Halloween houses. There are about 4 rooms with strobe lights and lasers and that’s about it.Also this is not one of those instagramable places if you’re looking for that. You can’t bring your phone inside. To be honest if you’re looking for something fun to do I suggest just going to the Samsung store in meatpacking, it’s free and more engaging then this exhibit. What I must say though is the actors are on point and are the highlight of this overall experience.
I cannot express in words what a gem this place is. It is an oasis you have never experienced or seen before in NYC. The founders and artists created a magical escape that every New Yorker should experience. It is a healing space. We need more of these in the city. I cannot recommend enough! Go go go...
This place is so much more than you think it is. On a surface level, its somewhere to go to take cool photos for your Instagram, which is fine. But once inside you realize youre actually part of an immersive story. Its way more than a bunch of trippy lights (although those are really cool too and I couldve laid there for hours staring at them).Dont come here with a strict time limit -- plan to stay for a few hours and explore and really pay attention to whats going on around you. Spend some time observing, and then start actually interacting with the characters -- thats the most rewarding part. Its such a cool and unique experience.
Each room by itself is amazing. But the “tasks/storyline” aren’t that cool. The “agents” all look like they are busy when approached, and the tasks/storyline where not interesting, I did not feel comfortable with the tasks. Had fun just chilling at the rooms as I gave up trying to interact with the “agents”.
Zerospace is headed in the right direction as far as utilizing innovations in tech in order to expand how people view and perceive visual art and experiences. I enjoyed the installations and interactive spaces they had to offer on a busy holiday (with lots of kids running around). Looking forward to experience their evening events as well.
Unlike anything ive experienced in New York. Beautiful art installations, fun actor narrative and you get to be a part of the experience and make it your own. I would recommend bringing anyone and everyone to this place (family, friends, partners, etc). Go for a great time to be present and wowed!
The reviews were all over the place & the site looked supercool, so I took one for the team. Not worth the money at all.Set aside the cost, just bad on its own terms - I think there were about 6 rooms. One was about a 6 out of 10 - the orb looking one. The other 5 spaces were a 1 or 2 out of 10. I would say collectively they provided about 10 minutes of naw, this is not cool. No vibe, no brilliance, no wow.The photographs & vids, esp the site marketing ones, are highly misleading. Stuff that looks great looks sad in person, and theres simply no way on earth youd spend more than a few minutes in front of it, or lying down on their bean bags. The interactive show/cast stuff isnt terrible, but again, Id rate it at like a 3 out of 10.Hard pass. Really glad my friend didnt come with. He wouldve hated it more than me.
Zerospace is an immersive entertainment experience which guides you as a volunteer into an inter-dimensional portal full of interactive visual art. Agents inform you the volunteer of certain optional activities to accomplish in the space. The visuals are stunning and memorizing, the music ambient tones and a mixture of slow drum rhythms, and the people a curious bunch of explorers out for adventure in electronic art. I particularly enjoyed the fiber optic stalactite room where you could lay and watch the lasers change the shape of the ceiling. I would recommend this experience to everyone.
A digital playground of interactive art, the ZeroSpace installation on West 33rd Street was fun, immersive and enjoyed by my two kids completely. The interactive experiences are very well done. I’ve seen light projections and musically-inspired media artworks before, but ZeroSpace is definitely taking it to a new level. Take your time and linger in each space, soak it up and wait for the experience to settle in like a dog finding the perfect spot to sit on their bed or blanket, adjusting a few times to get properly nestled.
This review is regarding the Club Zero club night. The venue and tickets were overpriced for a very underwhelming experience. The drinks at the bar were ridiculous, which is to be expected for NYC bars but this was just plain gorging. The venue is nice but the experiences arent that impressive for the fee theyre charging. Some of the installations didnt work and the dome experience, which incurred an additional cost was pretty lame. The Samsung 837 store would offer a better experience for free. 🤷♂️
Theres not much to this place...u walk around and look at some cool lights. A small bit of acting. Blah. They coulda did so much more with this concept we wanted to love it.it was over before we even realized it was ending. Overall tho it was NOT worth it at all...maybe more fun if your on acid or drugs.
This was a scary waste of time and money. Upon arriving you answer a long series of very personal questions and sign a waiver that flashes in front of your eyes. You would think that these questions are to personalize your experience but no they hype you up to answer these and bring you into a cool room with loungers and headsets and you watch the ceiling art show. Upon exiting the only one exciting part of this tour you enter into the land of “Zero Space”. Definitely some cool art installs but apparently this whole thing is a game which wasn’t explained well at all. I guess the goal is to interact with the people who work there to get into better rooms but when I tried it was like I wasn’t allowed to communicate with them? Very confusing and invasive. Giving it 2 starts because the installs were beautiful and a lot of hard work went into it.
Travelled over an hour from New Jersey for this and were denied at the door. Online it says (and I have proof in a screenshot) that they sell tickets on site. When we got there the man at the entrance said he could not let us even go inside without a ticket. I showed him the screenshot that said we could buy tickets at the door. He said that was wrong and turned us away. Very disappointed and angry.Wish my family and I were able to go in, it looks super cool but this ruined my family’s trip into the city.
Too gimmicky with very little to show for it. Theres so much buildup to the main immersive show, with the check-in staff blurting some really corny futuristic spiels. I commend them at least for trying to stay in character. By the time we got to the main show and started walking around, we were not as impressed. Theres no wow factor. Nothing stood out or was particularly memorable or mind blowing, which is what were looking for, after having attended similar but not as gimmicky immersive events in the past. Check-out was even cornier than check-in.You might want to reconsider and spend your money elsewhere if youve been to a similar show before.
Probably a bit oversold with overly similar first time reviews 🤔...The entry was quite interesting, but that’s the best part. You’re left to amble aimlessly thereafter, in a relatively small space with maybe a dozen installations that aren’t anything more than slightly psychedelic laser shows in a pretentious shtick with actors.Apart from the novelty of having your phone taken away for a “fuller immersion” the experience is threadbare and over quickly, with an effort to find the exit. We stumbled into a few illusion-balloon popping back rooms in that particular quest. The pretentiousness continues with a pointed exit interview on “what you’ve learned here today”. Think aimless, weak and overpriced Sleep no More clone meets mildly interesting light projections. Avoid unless combined with mind altering substances.
I probably should have done a little more research. I was expecting a lot of cool trippy artwork, but there were really only 2 installations worth spending any time at. Its set up with a lot of actors (who are very in character, if thats your thing), who you have to interact with, as well as other participants. For the anti-social, I wouldnt recommend this.
This is unlike anything I’ve experienced before. The art installations themselves are amazing, but it’s the interactive show performance that really makes this an experience. I suggest going to the show version if you can. I recommend this 100%. I’ll definitely be going again.
I love lighting and have spent quite a bit to make my living space an immersive experience so when I heard about ZeroSpace I was immediately sold and it did not disappoint. The theatrics are a bit silly but I still enjoyed every bit of it. The ginger drink at the bar really packs a serious ginger bite so beware of that. The vibrating chairs for your journey to ZeroSpace are amazing and I want one.I loved the two rooms where you can just zone out on the beanbags and get lost in the amazing lights. I dont wanna give too much away but I highly recommend this.
A beautiful dream-like journey into another dimensional space. Fall into a trance of sights and sounds and let the “heart” of the project sweep you away to a distant land. The “Show” is worth every dime. It narrates the art and a vital take-away of this entire exhibit. The Show’s intentions are pure and profound. Allow yourself to surrender, let it open you up. Come here with an open mind and an open heart. You’ll find that it’s better than meditation and it will relieve you of the convoluted thoughts you’ve carried around all week long.
Only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is I actually went - & its not good. Its basically about 15 mins of subpar art, the kind youd see at a free art fair, masked with a cheesy story about a portal and a deluge of suspicious, way over the top reviews. The orb room that is extensively photographed and marketed is worth $5, but the disappointment, silly show gimmicks and fake review campaign on social media talking about hours of mind blowing trips puts it an an overall zero imo.Disappoint yourself in person if you must....
I feel like I got fyre-festivald. I think the 5 star reviews must be investors of ZeroSpace trying to get people to come. Really underwhelming. They tell you theyre government agents taking you in to a portal and then lead you down halls wrapped in tin foil. The animations and visual experiences look like stock footage bought from the early 2000s. The experiences are just led lights on the ceilings of rooms with bean bags on the floor. The interactive parts are things you might see in the childrens section of a science museum. While the actors were very passionate, the performances often just felt rambly and absurd. I cant tell if this is something you bring your 8 year old to or if theyre targeting high millennials. Its like a super watered down version of Sleep No More, or Meow Wolf, but less thought out and less interesting. How is it possible that this is more expensive than a full day at Six Flags? Save your money and go to a museum or an escape room if you want a more thought provoking experience.
If youre a fan of Yayoi Kusama then you will appreciate this exhibition. The artists behind the work are talented. I love and appreciate multi-media art and this place allows you to immerse your senses in it. You really have to let yourself appreciate the space they create.I would definitely go back. Hopefully Ill get chosen for a one to one with one of the aliens! :)
I think all these 5 star reviews are fake. Went today with 3 kids. ages 8, 12,14. We saw everything in 30 minutes and nobody was blown away with anything. PLace is ok at best, only worth 5-10 dollars I think. Way over priced!!. And was not just me that thought so, every one of the kids as well. Had a better time at Ripleys believe or not which is kinda sad!
Such a let down. 50 bucks. We weren’t made aware that we were supposed to interact with the cast to get to different “levels” of the experience. One great cast member. One awful cast member. One waste of a night. I’ve been informed that I am no longer being allowed to choose what we do for our Annual Mother Daughter trip into NYC. That’s how bad it was.
If youve never had an immersive experience, you might find ZeroSpace to be entertaining. For those of us whove had imaginative and quality experiences, this one does not rate very high. The spaces arent well controlled, (kids romping and loud talking), the canvases arent top quality, so some of the visuals are lost, and the sound is inconsistent. The cost should be around $25, not $50.
Not only does ZeroSpace take you to a breathtaking new world, but it manages to change your perception once you leave. The stories and experiences inside promote a sense of connectivity and positivity which stayed with me even as I stepped back into the exhausting NY city sidewalk. I highly recommend this to anyone that can make it.
To Zerospace creators - I truly appreciate your idea to propagate moral values to people; everything seemed to be very philosophical; the laser shows were good. But I dont think it was worth the money. Some people did not know that we had to play a game. Some were not interested in playing the game. Even after playing the game, I couldnt connect all the dots. It would be great if you could make it a little more obvious, a little less abstract. If something has to be shared with people, it has to be designed in a way that makes sense to people. The way you describe Zerospace seems irrelevant to me.To the customers - dont get carried away with the words, dimension shift, space travel or whatever, theres nothing even remotely adventurous/exciting to what they have described. To get some value for the money you paid, talk to the agents about whats going on.
Prepare to be fyre-festivaled!!IE the marketing looks great, the experience is a faceplant.I really dont buy all the reviews saying this is amazing art or its an incredible experience or if you dont let go, its your problem, not the shows - having been there, no way Id believe them. Even if I didnt go, theyre just too over the top.First of all, the art is sub par - 2 out of 10.2nd - theres hardly any of it. Like 3 rooms and a meh dome & meh wall.3rd - the only somewhat half decent room imo - the orb they beat to death in the promos - was still only good for about 2 mins - where ppl get 2 hrs is beyond me.Hopefully you sorted the reviews by lowest first to see the truth...I would say the best thing going for it is that it was alot cheaper than the fyre fest and youre only thinking why did I fall for thisfor about 20 mins, not hours on an island. Small silver lining, imo.Save your money.
Zero space is an absolute must see when in NYC! Have not seen a place or had an experience like this anywhere else in the world, make sure you take your time when you go as youll be transplanted into a different dimension and may loose sense of time while enjoying all the different situations youll find yourself in!Been there 3 times already with different friends and every time I go there the ammount of addittional experiences make it feel a whole new project,Always improving i love it!
Zerospace is an experience not to be missed. It is not the passive entertainment typical of theater/concerts/ etc. where you sit back and have entertainment thrown in front of you awaiting your applause. No applause required - just smiles, awe, introspection and a surreal relaxed feeling once you let go. There are places to LIE DOWN on bean bags to see and hear the exhibits wash over you - OMG it is so cool. You can use all of your senses here and truly interact with the tactile exhibits too. Not knowing what to expect, we just let go and let the experience take over. Our phones were kept out of the exhibit and while it seems a minor point the utter lack of phones in a performance space was something not experienced in a decade - constantly documenting with pictures and video is not an experience fully appreciated. The elixers are unusual in a very good way. They have cold pressed herbal something or other not found in health food stores - totally unique and were made only for this exhibit - I could have stayed all night. You should go.
Zerospace...wow!! Had such a great experience that I went twice! First with friends, then brought my family who were visiting from out of town. Had a blast both times and noticed even more the second time around. Great production, it’s experiences like this that make NYC what it is. 5 stars!!
Completely underwhelming experience that is definitely NOT worth the entrance fee. All of the installations are lackluster and unpolished and the complete lack of a story once youre inside the event makes it dull and boring. This is not an immersive experience nor is it a good one.
I’d recommend staring at an old fashioned 1990 ‘s screensaver in place of spending 50 bucks to see this thing. Actors were nice but the art left much to be desired. Really happy a friend of ours opted to stay home. Honestly though...spend some time finding some sci-fi tunes and a screensaver to go along with it. Throw on some headphones and bam, you’re in ZeroSpace.
ZeroSpace really lives up to its name as there’s zero things to do in its space. When you first enter you’re siphoned for information like your name, email and other things for them to put you on a mailing list you don’t want to be on as well as wasting your time with superficial questions with biographical questions. You’ll have more fun sitting in central park watching people walk instead of this bland building. Don’t waste your time. Don’t waste your money. Don’t waste your energy on ZeroSpace.
I saw ads for the opening and thought it could be a cool new addition to NYC. But when I went, I was blown away - I have literally never seen anything like the art installations that they have inside. An incredible experience. Ive been recommending it to all my friends.
Was amazing. only reason I put 4 stars is we booked the late time slot thinking we would have plenty of time to enjoy at our leisure, but shortly after entering we were already being told the place was closing. Be sure to go before the last few time slots to have enough time.
If youre into immersive theatre, avoid this. While the light show when you get inside is interesting, the storyline/immersive aspects really fell short because there was very little continuity in the storyline. They set up what will seemingly be a very interesting show, but the initial aspects of the storyline have no followthrough and have very little to do with what ends up being an art/light show. This felt very much like an instagram experience and people were only there to take pictures, not to experience any meaningful theatre/art exhibit. There are much better shows to see in New York; I would skip this.
Zerospace deserves zero attention. It is an amateurish immature production of little value. The effects are something out of a junior high science fair for the most part, the premise ridiculous and at best childish. To be asking $50 entry fee is completely absurd as $10 for a childs attraction would be out of line. You get an email notice to essentially get very stoned before you go...and you better, or youll be mighty disappointed. They confiscate or lock up your phone so you cant take photos of how bad it is (my opinion)
I went there without really knowing what to expect of it, and I was mind blown by the scenography, images, and story behind it. I had the chance to get a one on one conversation with an entity from another dimension, made the experience even more special. I would definitely recommend it !
Amazing place. Those who wrote bad reviews are probably not the kind of people who should have gone in the first place. Good vibes there. Relaxing but mind expanding. You will get what you came for. Unless that is a selfie in which case you will also get one, but youre in the wrong place.
Went in person to buy tickets on a date. Was very surprised to be told to sign my name and address (!?) into an iPad, after which the price contained $10 on unexplained taxes and other fees. I went to pay, and they very rudely told me that they didnt accept cash. Couldnt there be a sign, or something?! The staff were more snide and unaccommodating, and seemed to wish to cause maximum embarrassment. A terrible and humiliating experience.
Info: open Wed-Sun in 10 minute time slotsThis Zerospace review is for the show at 136 West 33rd, in NYC, not the museum:Love the idea and wanted it to be completely amazing. But the experience is lacking in several ways.1 - too short2 - the pieces were tired - the main light globe was the best, but otherwise not good at all3 - the acting of the agents was overplayed & corny4 - the owners seem to be crushing this site with 5 star reviews. Take your own advice & just let it happen...On that score, Im wondering how much Zerospace is paying for a review that states -Zerospace was amazingJust be open to the experience (as if otherwise you dont see how bad it is?)I want to go back to ZerospaceI want to bring my friendsWhy are the other reviews so bad?Take lots of psychedelics to fully get ZerospaceI stayed for 2 hours. Do I get paid more for saying I stayed at Zerospace 3 hours? :)Is writing the 5 star reviews a paid per post deal or a full time position at Zerospace? :)To all others - proceed with extreme caution...Peace
Low budget, sub par experience. They spent all their money on marketing and not the tech. You could buy a better projector in your living room. Many reviews must be faked (paid or done be employees) as Fakespot says that ZeroSpaces Yelp reviews should be 1.5 stars when they are 3+ stars. Dont waste your money on this - if you want the real experience, check out teamLab overseas.
Incredible immersive venue! I visited twice! Me & my daughter had so much fun, we came during the day. She loved the immersive sandbox. I also was part of the Global Coralition event at Zerospace on January 17th. Amazing night, incredible visuals, dj’s, dancing - all for the good cause! To help raising the funds for Coral Reefs restoration. If you live in NYC or visiting this is a must see!
I went for the phish after party and it was one of the best experiences of my life. It is incredibly immersive and absolutely sensational. Go and spend as much time as you can there do not rush any of the interactions and try everything! Zerospace I miss you everyday! 🌌
I think you have to ask yourself - Do I feel lucky? - IE are all the 1 star reviews saying this place is a scam or really bad/misleading right, or the reviews saying its the best art & experience youll ever have?I think all of us posting reviews can post one thing or another, but at the end of the day, the truth is that this place is a scam.Art - 1 out of 10Story - 1 out of 10Value - 0 out of 10IDK where you get 5 stars from that, but feel free to travel to scamland yourself. ;)
The 5 star reviews are not real. Wonder why they dont ask the ppl they pay or comp to post amazing, soul affirming reviews & photos how to make it better, instead of just pounding the 5 star reviews. You can make a anything look amazing with a great photos or video. Zerospace is just not good in person. Amazing considering the art is supposed to come from Burning Man, where there is some truly talented artists. There were only a couple of rooms & they all seemed broken, or falling flat - way diff than the reviews & videos lead you to believe.Spend $50 per person to find out yourself. Disappointment awaits!
Zerospace provided the space not only to connect with strangers but with myself. I went without expectations (only knew that I would bask in the tech inspo of the art structures and find all the sensors)I found myself in a room with an 👽 entity, having a mini therapy session & left crying (a release of emotion I didn’t realize I had bottled up)- at the time, I was fresh in a grieving period.Quite frankly, it’s one of those experiences you gotta see for yourself. Every visit will be personal. Wish they highlighted the artists more but 5 stars for a memorable time.Artists to highlight: Hybycozo and Christopher Schardt!- Agent Jade
Amazing experience! Fascinated by the Tundra Laser Forest and the Parastela rooms where I spent the most time. Got the opportunity to meet one of the foreign entity from whom I learned more about this other world, their communication language, and their fascination for our custom to give ourselves a “first name”. I named one Kaya after our exchanges and received a gift in return 🙏❤️
News flash - the reviews for Zerospace are - fake.Anyone who says they spent hours here - fake.Anyone who says mind blown - fake.Anyone who says you have to do the tasks & chill to really get it - fake.See attached fakespot analysis of Yelp reviews - says shld be around 1.5, not 3.5 stars.Cheap, subpar, overpriced, overhyped, amazingly uninspiring art & plot.If I said I went to Auntie Annes pretzel kiosk in the mall and I spent hours marveling at the different shapes and flavors, and I bonded with the person next to me as we tripped out on the different pricing options, would you believe it - would you want to go? Hope not.
ZeroSpace creates an immersive experience through story, art installations, and characters that interact with you. When you step into the building, youre greeted by a group of government agents, putting you through a series of tests. From there are whisked into an inter-dimensional portal and meet the creatures of the other dimension. (Its a right of passage and I dont want to give it away). From there youre invited to explore multiple worlds created by some of the top installation artists in the country, all art of Burning Man.There are many popup experiences. What makes Zerospace different is its not an instagram museum. There is a solid and succinct story that leads you into the space. You find yourself meeting by characters (aliens) that provide one-on-ones, if you know how to unlock that experiences. They also ask you to lock your cell phone in a bag so you can really be present.Zerospace is a mix between immersive theatre and art installation. Its really a fun and entertaining experience for visitors or residents of NYC. The art is really dope too, museum quality. Definitely recommend it.
Not quite worth it. Im suspicious of some of the reviews posted here but the exhibit is quite short and they dont allow use of cameras either which makes me suspect that theyre trying to obscure how unimpressive this place is for people who like to jump on hype trains. Save your money and go somewhere else instead.
Having worked in visual arts / event production for over 15 years, I was very impressed with the Zero Space and the envelope they are pushing in the interactive art world. I am a huge fan of @hybycozo and was really impressed to see their work woven into soundscapes creating a truly reality bending interactive experience. One of a kind. A must visit NYC attraction.

2019-12-31I loved how we were late for a 7:10 pm show and arrived there an hour later and they were able to let us in still. Be extra early going there during the Christmas season. The traffic and finding a garage is like finding your ring in the sand at the beach. Thankfully they were understanding and there were availability at the times slot. We did the show which was pretty cute and gave you actors that had humor with them. The museum part was pretty interesting. They had many sitting areas which gave you the ability to relax and enjoy the laser or light show they had. There was about three or four rooms which your able to do that. The smaller rooms gets packed which the sitting in the bean bags gets limited. There was a bar within the big room which you can get drinks. They also had Games within the visitors which I didn’t partake in but it looked like people were into it and enjoyed that game experience. I just wish that they had more things.

2020-01-12Its not a bad place, they have a beautiful project but is way too overpriced for such a small museum...I mean, 40 dollars for like 15 min. Its crazy expensive to me.The attention is amazing. Very polite and they have a free wardrobe just in case you want to go more comfortable, but Im sorry this is not a place I would recommend to go because of the costs.By the time I finished the tour I could see more people waiting because I know they didnt wanted to go out so soon, but that was it. There was nothing else... 🤷🏻♀️

2020-01-26It was a real feast for the eyes. Relaxing and a good place for kids. The spaghetti Forrest and the sand. Takes about 40 minutes to an hour to really look at everything. Plus they have a free coat check, which was helpful the day we went.

2019-10-20This review contains spoilers for those going to see the show:ZeroSpace is considered an interactive art playground, which it honestly is. There’s the museum and then there’s the show. We did the show, which then leads to the museum part. When you get there, you walk into the main entrance that has an elixir bar. How cool, right?? And then once your group is called, the fun begins. You’re basically “volunteers” in this mission to ZeroSpace. The “entities” of ZeroSpace want to learn more about our species, so you take a portal (an awesome dome light show in vibrating recliners) to ZeroSpace and enter into this abstract museum. There’s lights and illusions and mirrors and weird sculptures and other strange stuff everywhere for you to look at and interact with. They have small rooms with different light shows going on where you can just lay in a bean bag and relax. Or you can play in the interactive sandbox. And if you want to play along, you can go on “missions” to help the entities learn more about you. There are agents all around the space and they can tell you about the other missions you can do. They all somehow incorporate memories, meeting strangers, feeling empathetic, etc. It’s really all about getting to know yourself and learning about the human mind.I found it both overwhelming and underwhelming. Part of it was confusing. After being in ZeroSpace for only 10 minutes, we were like Okay, now what? But I kept paying attention to what other people were doing and I realized that there was more than just self-interacting. I think I went into it with different expectations, thinking it would be more space-related. But once I looked at it from an interactive art sort of situation, I could appreciate it more. Once you understand what youre getting into, it makes the price mildly worth it. Knowing that youre getting a performance out of it is why I didnt mind paying $50. Would I do it again? No. But I definitely recommend it to those who havent gone! Its for sure a trippy experience and a fun night.

2019-11-26I really wanted to love this place. Seeing the pictures online really made me want to check it out. But sorry to say it was underwhelming. The “interactive” part is missing. Unless you like sand. That’s about the only thing you can to touch. The place seems big inside. But the immersive experience is lost. The room with the light ball was my favorite. I feel like, they had a great idea. But this could be done better.

2019-09-22I thought this was incredible. if you allow yourself to be vulnerable and open the walls and shelves in you mind that have been closed and dusty youll benefit from the creativity of this concept. Fall in love with colors your thoughts all over again.I was taken by an entity and no I did not beg. I was standing there watching the ritual and an agent gave my hand to an entity. we then went into a room had intriguing conversation and insightful thought provoking conversations.we spent 3 hours here, if you allow yourself to be vulnerable and open to your thoughts about what this concept is all about youll get your moneys worth to all the doesnt recommend people.
