Zogsports took mine and 7 of my friends signup fee (over $1500) in March 2020 and has ignored all attempted communications to have those funds returned to us ever since. They took our money to cover their own expenses over the last year instead of refunding people who signed up for their leagues before covid. Now they are marketing leagues that are starting up again without refunding the people who are still owed money. If youre thinking of signing up, dont!
Zog is an amazing way to make new friends, stay active, and have fun. Ive really enjoyed my time in the leagues and owe many of my current friendships to the league. The games are well-run, competitive, and the league management is really good about following up with team during the season. So glad that I finally signed up for Volleyball!
Had a great experience working with Desi at ZogSports! A few coworkers and I joined the winter bowling league and it was a ton of fun. ZogSports was extremely helpful and organized throughout the entire process. Were looking forward to doing another league in the future!
We really loved the way ZogSports administered our event. They were incredible helpful and available to us and helped us plan the part every step of the way. We had a lot of people attending so it was great that they were able to work with us and change the games and the event to fit our company and what we wanted to do. They were ready for us ahead of schedule which was perfect since a lot of us were early and they even helped us set up some of the decorations. We’re grateful that they were able to handle a lot of the back-end work for us and make it possible for us to just sit back and enjoy ourselves. Our employees had a lot of fun and gave us feedback saying they’d definitely want us to do this again. Thank you Zog!
I have been playing on ZogSports team since 2003, and have had an absolutely amazing experience. The Zog team is incredibly friendly and professional, and does an outstanding job of handling the venues, scheduling, referees, etc. Zog also works with local bars for participants to hang out after the games, which helps add to the strong ZogSports community. Throughout the nearly 15 years that Ive been involved with Zog (playing football, basketball and softball), Ive had an absolute blast and made countless new friends. Its a wonderful organization that allows you to have fun on the field while contributing to your charity. I cant recommend more highly.
My husband and I joined ZogSports to play football. It was a great way to meet some new people and have fun playing a game we both love. We liked that there are different levels of experience because we just wanted to have fun even though we are a bit competitive. We weren’t about to play against people who have been playing for years and Zog made it so easy to find people in the same boat. They also make it easy to socialize after the game since they pair up with bars closeby that give you discounts on beers. It was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon! Also, Zog was organized with the way games were scheduled and never schedule things on holidays or holiday weekends so you don’t have to worry about bailing on your team. For those who like to play different sports and want to continue doing so as an adult but on a more casual level this is the company to go to!
I have been working for ZogSports for quite some time now, and I have loved every minute of it. The full-time staff at Zog is so caring, and they really listen to our feedback about the leagues we ref. They are always looking to continuously improve the leagues and communicate with us often. Kellie, who runs the Queens leagues and some Manhattan leagues, is really a joy to work with. She is fun, caring, and just down right hilarious. I recommend joining a Zog league to anyone who is looking to be a part of a caring community, all the while giving back to charity in the process.
ZogSports is really awesome. There are a ton of sports to choose from, many different levels of competition, and so many schedule options, so its really easy to find something that works for you. Signing up is super simple, and costs are reasonable too considering how many games you play in a season (not to mention the fact that it includes post-game drinks at a nearby bar). Its a great way to not only play fun and competitive sports with your friends / coworkers, but also an awesome way to branch out and meet new people in the city. Highly, highly recommend it, and will definitely be signing up for more sports in the future.
I have played on a Zog Sports team for 2.5 years and absolutely love it. I first played on a roster as a free agent and found the people welcoming and fun. Then I recruited some friends for a full team that has been playing together for almost 8 seasons. Every member of our team can agree that our games are weekly highlights. If youre looking for a way to meet people or a fun thing to do with your friends, Zog is a NYC must.
ZogSports has been the greatest social experience Ive had since moving to NYC. Zog fosters a tight knit community among its players, and Ive been able to create great relationships through various leagues. The staff is always extremely helpful, and I will be participating in Zog leagues until my legs give out. Excellent company.
Joining a ZogSports team was one of the best things I’ve ever done! It’s such a great way to make new friends and have fun along the way, no matter what kind of “athletic ability” you have. I joined knowing not a single soul on my team and am happily doing that again this summer!
Playing in Zog Sports leagues the past two years, and meeting new teammates through those teams have changed my life, and that is not an understatement. There have been many experiences that have been afforded to me that if I had not joined Zog and met those people, would not have happened so I am very grateful. It just always feels good to enjoy these games because they provide the right mix of competition and fun! Thanks Zog!
Ive played in five or six different Zog leagues and have enjoyed every one of them. The organizers are very responsive and the leagues are well run. Each season has been enjoyable, with a good level of fun / competitiveness, and Id recommend Zog leagues to anyone interested
One of the best things I did while living in the city is to play Zogsports! I started playing Coed Zog Football over 12 years ago. Over those years I realized there are 3 things I love about playing Zog Football. One is playing football. Nothing beats playing football outside on a nice weekend afternoon. The league is very well organized and the atmosphere is great. The people working for Zog makes it a very welcome environment. The second thing I love about Zog is the post game activities. Most teams go to the Zog designated bar after the games to grab some food, drinks and play some drinking games. The post game is awesome for team bonding and building friendships! Speaking of friendships, that’s the 3rd and most important reason I love about Zog. By joining Zog, I have made countless number of Friendships that will last long after my Zog playing days are over. I have seen zog friends date, get married and now a few actually have some babies. And it all started from playing Zogsports!! So if you like sports or kind of like sports and want to meet new people join Zogsports you won’t regret it!!!
On a whim, I chose to join a Zog flag football team, and it was one of the best decisions Ive ever made. I have made incredible friendships with people all across NYC. Not to mention, it is a fun workout! All of the refs and staff at Zog are incredibly helpful, fun and kind. I would recommend Zog to anyone whose looking for a fun and social community.
The Trade Desk has won more Zog Sports Championships than the Kardashians have had plastic surgeries. Were living in teams’ heads and not paying rent. Weve had so much success that other people have stopped having fun. So yeah, the basketball team is a big deal at our company. We’ve even presented fake trophies to our C-levels after past championships to make the leadership team proud. Zog has always been so helpful accommodating everything/anything we need, and we really appreciate the customer service. Thank you for all that your team does!
Kellie is the best league manager at ZogSports. I seriously cannot say enough good things about her. If you get the chance to play in one of her leagues, you will be sure to have a great experience. After playing in several different leagues around the city, I can safely say that ZogSports is the best one, and its the only league I would ever want to play with. If I could give more than 5 stars for them, I would.
I first started out playing for Zog when I moved into the city to make friends. I loved the different leagues they offered. I soon found myself reffing and reffing is just as fun as playing. The leagues are so well run and organized, I have made a ton of friends both playing for zog and working for them. I highly recommend zog in any capacity.
Ive been playing ZogSports for 8 seasons now... do I need more of a explanation?! It really is a great way to spend time with friends and coworkers while enjoying the outdoors. Everyone that works at Zog is always great and the fact that they give back to charity and our surrounding community is just an added bonus to a already long list of reasons. As Tony the Tiger used to say, THEYREEEE GREATTTT!
Zog Sports has been renting our basketball court for 4 years and it is a privilege to do business with them. They are flexible, responsive and responsible. Their staff is so easy to work with and always show their appreciation of the business we have built together. As a non-profit community center it is especially meaningful to us that their mission is aligned with our mission. They donate 10% of net proceeds, 100% of Happy Hour bar contributions, and an allocation from their sponsors to a charity pool, divvied up among the winning teams to the charities that the teams select each season. Most importantly the people who come here weekly to play soccer and basketball have a great time!
I thoroughly enjoyed participating in Zog Sports this past summer as their influencer! I never did a league before, but have always talked about it so Im thankful to have had this opportunity with Zog. I got to make a lot of new friends, drink a lot of beer and worked on my volley ball skills :) The competitive side of me really came out this summer and I cant wait to do another league soon!
Pre-paid for 2 leagues (my wife and I for one and solo for another). Leagues were canceled for Covid-19. No refund issued, only a credit. The credit does not mean a thing since my life situation has completely changed. A rep stated that there is no money available because of how they allocate funds to the future. My money is being held hostage for poor cash flow management. Crooks.Stay away. Stay far away.
Zog is an amazing experience that I would recommend for any adult looking to expand their social circle. Beyond just fun and (very) organized Rec sports, zog gives you the opportunity to meet new people, build friendship and even network in a professional capacity. Throughout the years, zog has not been complacent with their structure. They now introduced the new pro league that keeps stats and records highlights!I look forward in continuing my participation with zog sports as they have been very consistent, accommodating, and most importantly..FUN!
Bobby Correira· 2 seconds agoIve been playing for over 6 years, and my team is always excited to come back. Zog is a great way to meet new people, stay active, and re-live your sporting glory days. I even met my girlfriend through ZogSports! I recommend signing up to play at least one sport, or try the more casual leagues like cornhole. And if youre looking for a team to play on in soccer...let me know, were always looking for extra players!
Zog Sports is amazing. They offer many rec sport options all year…basketball, soccer, softball, kickball, football, dodgeball…just to name a few, followed by fun postgame happy hours at nearby bars.If you are new to the city and want to make great new friends, join any Zog team alone, as a free agent.Or if you just love playing sports and/or bar games, join any Zog team as a free agent or with friends.Or maybe you want to bring friends or coworkers together and have fun. Start your own team.Zog Sports is the best.
I first join zog softball 4 yrs ago IT was fun. I stop playing 2 yrs ago after horrible field conditions and them having issues with permits on the field. I recently join AGAIN for softball in queens. WORST WORST ever, ONLY 4 teams, when I try to send emails out NO response they are defiantly NOT organized for NOTHING. They are really good to take you money and send you a bunch of emails for the following season and increasing prices for NO REASON. DONT JOIN ZOG you new people who move to NYC. Join MEETUP its FREE and more fun !!!!!
Zogsports has absolutely changed my life. When you move to a new city its tough to make friends and feel at home. Your days are filled with menial work and your nights are lonely, chockfull of half eaten seamless and a full netflix queue. Joining zogsports gave me something to look forward to. Its not just a team, its a family. If you are lost and floundering do not fret, Zogsports is here for you and we will welcome you with open arms.
5 out of 7 cornhole games were CANCELLED either last minute (20 mins before) or actually not even TOLD that its cancelled and we are wondering where the cornhole sets are. They also have refused to refund us for this. Weve emailed several people, customer service, and facebook messaged them asking whats going on and Zog was less than responsive. Most were cancelled for reasons that Zog lied about and found out it was because there was confusion about whether the ref was available or not. 1 game we were never told it was cancelled, we showed up, and found out from the bar that they forgot to let us know it was cancelled because the bar was using it as a dance floor, and the ref who showed up put one cornhole set out for the other teams to play but wouldnt put the cornhole boards out for our team because this was her compromise with the bar. Only a few were cancelled because of forfeits which I dont blame Zog, but even then, perhaps Zog should be more clear that teams should inform others if they need to forfeit (its nowhere in the emails).Considering two of the games were cancelled because they thought that the ref was unavailable, I would think having a ref is of upmost importance. Turns out, its not. He isnt even in the same room while we play (all our 2 games). I dont blame him - it would be impossible for him to keep score because there are simultaneous games. But besides coming into the room once or twice to ask how were doing, the ref is not involved. This is fine, but then again, why are we paying the price that we are? Because of the amount of people per team, there isnt that much game time for each person. All of these things make it hard to justify the price tag for this. Right now, it just feels like weve played a very expensive game of cornhole for a few minutes and have been inconvenienced other nights due to cancellations. After hassling them about a refund, they continued to say that the bar was unreliable, passing the blame on the bar and giving excuses - we dont care whether its their fault or the bars fault; we are paying Zog for a service that we did not receive (we are not paying the bar). They refuse to refund us. This is a scam.
Zogsports volleyball is definitely the best/most competitive social league in NYC. Their team is super accommodating (Desi is amazing!) and really try to help out wherever they can. I also love that you play for a charity as well! Played indoor in East Village, and we’re signing up again for beach!
We paid $120 each to have the honor of playing on a school blacktop with no lights and kickballs that more than half the time did not light up properly or even light up at all. Furthermore there were immobile soccer goals and concrete tables in the outfield. Its a miracle that nobody got seriously injured. Not planning on participating in Zogsports again.
Fosters a great social/sports community in a city of millions. The competition is VERY good in many of their sports including softball, Ultimate, soccer and dodgeball. The staff is great too, from the on-field refs to the league managers that help the best they can. If youre new to the city or have friends that are lame and moved away, Zog is a dope way to meet fun people!
I have been participating in zog sports since 2013. The leagues are great, there are sports every season, the competition is perfect for adults looking to have fun and push themselves, and the service the reps provide is super helpful. For sure join one of these leagues.
They will not refund us for a league (nearly $1500) we booked that got cancelled due to COVID. We do not want a credit, as everyones lives have changed, many have moved out of the city, etc. Every other concert/ event ticket I purchased that got cancelled due to COVID has been refunded. They need to find a way to make right on these refunds. This is totally unethical and absurd.
Working as a beach volleyball referee here, I got to meet so many great people. I was able to get to know the players that Id see every week and watch them improve throughout the season. My league manager, Kellie, was very kind, reliable, and helpful throughout the season. Not to mention, I got to spend my summer in Long Island City not only watching my favorite sport, but watching the sunset over the city.
The amount of friends I have made from Zogs is incredibly. Everyone is there to have fun and be competitive at the same time. The leagues are organized and easily accesible and they really have something for everyone at any skill level. Highly recommend!Brandon Henton
Yelp HQ doesnt allow truthful negative reviews, so here Ive re-posted it here.I hadnt played softball in over ten years. I was looking for a fun outlet to meet other New Yorkers. So I joined Zogsoprts high-school gym class level, for fun only beer league. There were no try outs; everyone who pays plays. There was a picture of everyone drinking beer at a bar in Zogsports t-shirts instead of people playing ball on their site. Skill levels for the league were listed as casual, sorta players, and players. The season was destroyed by a few dbags on our team and no one really had any fun. Zog provides everyones email to one another once you are assigned a team. One obnoxious little pint-sized L.I.J. from Manhasset Hills, New York deemed himself team captain via email prior to even meeting anyone in person. This kid proceeded to attempt to take control of every aspect of every game, including who lugged the equipment bag to and from each event, and was an outspoken douche regarding other players abilities. It was unreal and at 56 youd think hed be more courteous to others. Shouldve got the kid a trophy to put above his bed next to the picture of the girl who talked to him once and his many ribbons. I shouldve punted him in the east river at the end of the season. There was another guy who kept player stats in a log book. Another who started chants from the bench. Another who gunned the ball at his own wifes head so hard that her glove was knocked off. This same guy also proceeded to yell commands at other players on the field. I talked to people on other teams that we played and they couldnt believe it. They said everyone on their team understood that this was a just for fun event. Most of the girls and some guys just stopped showing up. If I remember correctly, we had to forfeit a couple games due to lack of girls per Zogsports rules. Definitely not what I paid for. I asked Zogsports to be put on another team to escape the douchery, but it was too late after only one game. Money and time wasted.
Zog NYC Basketball is a complete joke , dont waste your time signing up for that. They have some guy name Max in charge of of the basketball and I dont know why he is completely clueless. He doesnt know anything about basketball and the only thing he runs good is his Mouth. Some of the refs are cool and laid back but a few you can tell are just there for a pay check ,and dont care much about the games. I play flag football and thats cool no issues but the Basketball program is not ran well and organized. We had games where the referees came late and they cut our games short on their Tardiness. Our Captain wanted some answers on this but was completely ignored by Max . When we called the number for league manager Devin on website he didnt pick up once after trying several times. Zogs Corporate needs to look into their basketball program and who they have running it because its a Mess. If I could give negative stars for a rating I would.
I was picked last in gym class. Every. Damn. Time. In high school, Id skip entirely and go smoke behind the cafeteria. But Im a grown up now, and I want to make friends and stay physically fit. Zogsports is amazing! I play dodgeball, which always was my favorite. I wont ever be the best athlete, but I dont need to be. The teams are supportive, and theres a place at the proverbial table for everyone. Ladies get equal play time and even the opposing, sometimes more experienced teams are open with tips and praise for a job well done. This is adult community done right. Just enough competition to keep you on your toes and push you to be better, but afterwards its drinks and beirut and making friends all over! Ladies, dont think twice about joining. You will not be marginalised. Forced gender ratios will highlight your skills on the field and you will be an important member of the team! In fact, i encourage anyone to join as a free agent. New teams welcome beginners and established teams welcome new friends. Plus, it beats the treadmill any day of the week!
I played in a few different zog leagues and the games always had a friendly atmosphere and the Softball fields for the Battery Park league were super nice, However 4 regular season games were not worth the money in my opinion but money is relative. $130 for 4 regular season games would be worth it only perhaps if we played at Yankee Stadium. They said the field was reason for cost and it was nice, but I played in another zog league which was $110 street hockey. Those games were on a horrible horrible rink in Chinatown with debris all over it and cracks. and while 8 games was that season, there is no way on earth it was worth $110. This was due to the lack of professionalism with the manager on site. The first game of the season the games almost got cancelled after a 1 and a half hour delay because the zog employee on site DIDNT HAVE THE KEY FOR THE RINK. Paying 50% more than any other league in the city for any sport would maybe be worth it if it didnt feel so wrinky-dink.
The Zog man himself greeted me and sat me down in the ballers “dugout”. Got to chill out, slurp down some suds, while he personally presented me with my teams jerseys...sky blue, hell yea. Our team’s the sky liners so it couldn’t be more perfect. We taking first place this year in bocce for sure woo woo, let’s go sky liners!! Pearl loves to chase the little ball, this gonna be crazy we be Wildin’! Two paws up!
Ive been playing in the league for 10 years. I think that pretty much sums up the experience. BUT ill give some more context! Its an amazing league to be a part of, especially if you are a former hs/college athlete and cant imagine a life without competition. However, if competition isnt your thing, thats ok too! There are many levels within each league, so pick what works best for you. Its also a great way to meet new people, make bffs, and act like you are in college again. Basically its awesome. Do it.
Often when strolling through Central Park I see Zogsports softball teams which use inexperienced players catching behind the plate and neither team has a catchers mask. The ump doesnt have one either. I checked Zogsports rules and the teams are required to provide masks, but when I admonish the catchers and the umps and tell them they should be wearing a mask, they say its Zogsports. This is insane; somebodys gonna get hurt.

2022-06-28Zog’s gone way downhill and instead of doing anything to make their players happy, they just send groveling emails about how they’re stretched so thin right now. Been playing soccer with them for years, but these days they’re failing to do the bare minimum. No refs and the field where we play frequently doesn’t know we’re actually supposed to be there. Multiple times through the winter, the facility tried to kick us out despite having games scheduled. Then Zog has failed to be organized with their own schedule and made us replay games that they had already counted toward the league and not agreed to accept scores from games without a ref, even when both teams agreed to count the game. It’s not that hard to keep track of teams and scores. I’ve run tournaments with friends that were more organized. I’m not sure what we pay them for at this point and may be looking for a different league soon.

2022-06-148 years of NYC Rec. sports and this is the worst experience I’ve ever had. The league delivered on practically nothing it sold us. We had multiple last minute postponements. Never had a shot clock or scoreboard. Single ref and many more issues that weren’t resolved with costumer service who barely responded to my emails after multiple weeks of no replies (the season only lasts 6 weeks). For the same price as any other basketball league I’ve played in this is a colossal rip off. They also don’t offer refunds regardless of how poorly the league runs so save your money.

2022-04-24If I could give less stars i would. Zog is horriibly ran especially for the Brooklyn sports leagues! This is coming from a person who has played at least 5+ years with them. All they do is make excuses and then are not attentive with anything they do. They do all of this while hiding behind their no refund policy so that allows them to push back season start dates months later then they were supposed to actually be. Communication is horrible as you can barely get in contact with anyone even going as far as to show up to games that you cant play because they never cancelled it and have no refs. This Spring season was the last straw with them pushing back the date after they took peoples money a whole month and half and still refuse to give refunds!

2022-06-08I really gave this league 3 tries to be a decently run organization for Jersey City Volleyball, and never once did it get better. No communication of cancellations amongst the teams (4 teams total), no referees for half the games, the staff have no idea whos playing who, playoffs only having 3 teams, this was just a poor excuse for a sports league. I wish I could take my money back and my time spent in this league, just delete this league and focus on other sports that you actually can run.

2022-05-19Their leagues are so disorganized and they had no refs for our playoff game, they’ve also had refs show up late consistently and refuse to refund based on it. This organization used to be way better before they cut their staff

2019-02-15My company has been playing Spring Kickball through ZogSports for almost three years now and its always a highlight. Its a great way to build work relationships and break up the week with fun activities. The support at Zog HQ is super helpful and prices are the best of any of the intramural providers in NYC. We definitely recommend!

2022-05-04The Brooklyn Pier 6 volleyball league did not provide us a ball, cancelled games without telling us in advance, updated the last 2 weeks of standings & scheduled playoff games with less than 24 hr notice (and only bc we contacted them to ask), and did not provide a referee for the playoffs (he was reffing a VOLO game on the next court and told us to tell him the score at the end).

2021-08-11Zog was completely INACCESSIBLE throughout the entire league, we had NO WAY to contact them to let them know when we couldn’t make the team and we were NEVER contacted when other teams didn’t make it leaving us ALONE for 3 games. There was NO BUS that showed up to pick and drop us off as promised. Many games had NO umps making them unofficial. We Paid for 6 games and technically only got 2 out of the 6. There was no platform for us to contact the other teams directly which honestly would have resulted in a better organized league.

2019-02-14Ive been playing ZogSports for 4 years and absolutely love it. I started solo as a free agent and ended up being matched with a great team. I am still playing with the same team 4 years later and we became very good friends, go out together and even travel together.ZogSports is very quick at answering emails and is always trying to accommodate everyone. The Refs they use are very good and fair, but also super nice and fun. I really enjoy going to the bar with everyone after a game (teammates, refs, other team players). Unlike other leagues in NYC, they don’t take themselves too seriously. It’s competitive enough that you can enjoy playing a good game (I play football) but everyone is very friendly and is there to have fun first. I’ve played in other leagues and ZogSports is definitely my number 1! Also, I met my boyfriend thanks to ZogSports and I couldn’t be more grateful for all the good things that happened to me since I joined. If you are anxious to join because you don’t know anyone, just go for it!!! Everyone is very welcoming and friendly, you will make new friends and have a ton of fun and create great memories.

2020-01-29I have been playing with ZogSports for a few seasons now. While the leagues are a fun way to stay in shape, they are also a good place to meet like-minded people. The staff is also easy to work with.Recently there was an error in a registration that caused me to miss multiple games at the start of a season (soccer). Without hesitation, the staff refunded me the money, making it a hassle free process.I definitely recommend.
