Owner is very rude and unfriendly. He was quick to push me out the door after I inquired about chameleons. He didnt have any for sale and instead of letting me talk, I was going to ask about getting supplies for one, he went on a rant about them being very expensive and how I cant see any.
Kind of scary event did not know they weer not reptile store
The man gave me my red-tailed boa a few days ago along with a great deal. Hes very kind and helpful and knows what hes doing. He doesnt overprice and his deals for things are admirable. Frankly, hes saved my mother and I a lot of money than Petco. And my red-tailed boa has a great home-!
Terrible customer service. The guy running the place is rude. The animals have no prices no price ranges and the owner Rudely asked us not to take photos, which is strange on how there’s photos on the reviews, when we first walked in no one was in there. And there only selling animals with setup. Honestly I prefer everything pets in altamont if you’re looking to buy any reptiles birds etc.
This is really the best place to buy reptiles, snakes, geckos, bearded dragons. The owner breeds them is an expert on all things reptile. There isnt a more knowledgeable person to talk to about them, the quality of the animals are so far and above what you would find at any pet store, if you are truly interested in buying a reptile, buying food for your reptiles, or buying equipment for your reptiles this is the place to go, you cant do better then this
Honestly if youre considering any pet that is carried(sometimes bred) by The Zoo I wouldnt go anywhere else. I cant recommend The Zoo enough to anyone thats looking to purchase a companion!My Ball Python is incredible, he eats well and has a wonderful temperament. Its nice to know that he was bred by a professional and that even his food has been looked after to be as healthy as possible.I love going back and picking up food just for an excuse to say hello and see whats new. Mike is incredibly knowledgeable and kind to beginners, he will make sure youve got enough information to be comfortable with your purchase and confident you can give the best care! The Zoo in Schenectady NY is simply fantastic!
Found The Zoo when I googled bearded dragon breeders near me. I called Michael asking him about a bearded dragon I have and he told me to bring it in and he can check it out. He was very nice and knowledgeable. Unfortunately my baby bearded dragon has MBD due to the fact that it most likely came from a farm in Florida where pet stores get them from. So Michael was nice enough to take in my sick baby and see if he can help him since he can barely walk or climb. Michael was very nice with the prices! I highly recommend going to his store for any reptiles and questions! Wish I knew about his store before I got mine from a pet store!
Mike is great! He is very passionate about what he does and ensures his customers leave happy and educated! I got my first ball python from him and 100% plan on going back to him for my next one!!!
Owner knows a lot about reptiles and is helpful. We wanted one male red iguana, but the owner wasnt willing to separate the pair, so we also purchased the female.The female is a handful, wants to jump and run.The male is a sweetheart, loves to be handled and snuggles up against your cheek.We regretted purchasing the female, but we will continue to work with her to try warm her trust and calm her down so she doesnt get hurt or turn mean.
I drove over an hour to come to this pet store after I called ahead to ask if the shop had the snake I was looking for that fit my budget. Upon arrival to the store I come to find that they do not have nearly as many snakes as described and not one of them were the type I called and asked about. Not only did he not have what he told me he had! None of them were the prices he described on the phone and all of them were hundred of dollars more than he told me they were over the phone. I wasted 3 hours of my day coming to this store and I am very disappointed! Would not ever recommend this place to anyone.
Had a bad experience with this store about a year ago. Owner was quite unfriendly and seemed reluctant to sell us a Ball Python. Told us that there was no way wed be able to find a Ball Python for under $200. While he does have quite a few morphs, most are spider-based (causes neurological problems called wobble). Lots of herpers dont have any problem with spiders being bred/sold, and I dont mind either but its important to know what youre getting into. When I asked him if any of them had problems due to the spider gene he said the spider gene didnt have any problems. They were also kept in very small shoebox size plastic bins. Maybe we caught him on an off day but judging from the other reviews, he just seems unfriendly. Id recommend Everything Pets in Albany. Or even better, get a high quality snake shipped to you for much cheaper from morph market or a reputable breeder.
Very nice shop. Mike breeds his own feed and reptiles and keeps a nice tidy place. A safe place to buy your feed and animals and great prices. If you love your reptiles youll shop for them here.
I went in here a week ago to browse supplies, look for tanks for my geckos and possibly pick up some geckos. The owner was very rude, he acted as if we were an inconvenience to him. I understand that this place has been victim of robbery in the past but that is absolutely no excuse to treat customers like that. I ended up feeling so uncomfortable that I left, purchasing nothing. He lost a potential good sale and a good customer. I love to support small local business but not when the owner is rude.
Used to go in there weekly for feeders. Always a pleasure doing business. Cant wait to go back and get a hand raised healthy bearded dragon. Coolest store ever. Owner is just business only. So reptile smart. Cant expect normal can we?
Went in there February of 2015 and spent $700 on a morph Columbian red tail boa and a setup and also a morph bearded dragon and a setup. Gave me a awesome deal cause it was my birthday. Idk what people are saying about him being rude. Hes the friendliest guy ever. Maybe cause hes a big guy with a deep voice. But he definitely got 5 stars from me and my family
Mike is amazing! Kind, very informative, and always keeps the best interest of his animals top priority. He will always be my go to for reptiles!
We Bought a beautiful red tail boa for our daughter.Her first snake.. Very experienced and professional plan on going back soon.. Extremely happy.
Ive known the owner of this store for almost 20 yrs and he is an extremely knowledgeable. This is the only place in the Albany NY area to go to if you want anything that has to do with reptiles. If this guy doesnt have it, he can get it for you. And hell know what your asking for. Go here for the good stuff!
Avoid like the plague!I went to this shop years ago and I was treated very rudely, I am back in the area and decided to give them another go. BIG MISTAKE they was unbelievably rude. I was trying to buy feeder rats for my reptiles, they tried to charge me 25 dollars for female rats.In Everything pets near Walmart they do not over charge for gender of the rats!
If I could give less than a star I WOULD. This place is the most terrible store Ive ever been in. Brought my boyfriends spider in there after we thought he might be dead which he was indeed. However, the owner made us pay $28 just for him to take a metal clamp to the spider, literally FLOP HIM ON THE FILTHY GROUND OUTSIDE THE SHOP than shove him back in the cage and continue to do this roughly 3 times. Ive never seen so carelessness with an animal before. He tried to tell us it was still alive when it in fact was clearly dead... Went back in today to talk to him and got nothing but rude replies and told there was nothing he could do and it wasnt his fault. Were nothing but pissed and are continuing further legal proceedings after dealing with the VERY RUDE OWNER.
I called Mike on the phone because I was concerned about a Boa that a friend of mine bought here. He was told it was a Hypo het Albino and when I asked Mike what the boa was he said it was a Hypo het Albino, but my friend sent me pics of the boa and it isnt a Hypo, it is a Normal Boa het albino.. When I told Mike it isnt a Hypo he told me well its a het Hypo, which there is no such thing as a het Hypo either its Hypo or it isnt... Then I asked him about his Hypo Sunset he has for sale because he told my friend if he bred it to a hypo het albino he would get Moonglows and that is False you will not get moonglows..You have to have the Anery gene in both boas to get Moonglows... Im very upset that he is giving people false information about the Genetics of his Boas...Mike please do research on the Genetics of your Boas, Thank You.I have been breeding Boas for 35 years and have done research on them.. Mike tells me he has 40 years of experience.. I am very concerned for the people who buy Boas at that pet shop.. My friend was over charged for a Normal Boa.. He paid the price for a Hypo Boa when it wasnt even a Hypo and that is not ok with me..Mike was rude to me and hung up on me, because he didnt like to be told he was wrong...
Mike Is the most awesome breeder ever i bought my daughters first snake from there he definitely knows his stuff i go every week to get her food Plus he gives awesome advice Will NEVER go anywhere else.

We couldn’t have had a better experience at The Zoo! Not only did we purchase our beautiful BCC, Freya; but we also purchased new hides, some decor and feeders for Freya as well as our other snakes at home. We got an AMAZING deal from Mike for everything we purchased & we gained a lot of free knowledge from him as well! 2022-06-08Mike is a quality guy who knows more than you could hope for about your snake or lizard. He’s been super helpful for me as a new ball python owner.Make sure to call ahead before popping by though. He’s currently running the store on his own and is feeding snakes all day. It helps him to be able to plan ahead.

2017-12-29Oh... My... Goodness... I cant even begin to describe how great this place was. Mike is the most amazing wealth of snake knowledge you could possibly find. I was looking around the capital district for a snake that I wanted and I finally stopped in The Zoo to ask Mike. He was so informative about everything pertaining to snakes. I read online that he didnt have the best customer service but I couldnt have had a more different experience! He was so pleasant to talk to. We ended up just talking for a while about reptiles. He has been breeding snakes since 1993 so he has amazing stories and experience!! The snake he sold to me was bred and raised by himself. The Ball Python couldnt be a better pet! So social and calm. Mike even breeds his own feeder animals! Ill be going to him for all my reptiles needs now. I found my spot! I suggest you give him a try also.

2018-06-09Mike was an absolute pleasure to meet. His snakes are truly his passion. Ive never stepped into a pet shop that was so pristine, and I own a pet shop myself! He definitely gives the rest of us something to strive for. I went home with one of his stunning sunset boas, a boa that is often imitated but rarely produced or produced this nicely. If you are looking for a good quality reptile, THIS is the place to go. Dont waste your money at big box stores!

2019-08-08Mikes animals are of very good quality, but most importantly, they are very healthy and given quality care. I purchased two crested geckos, both of whom were of healthy weight and appearance for their age, and he made sure I had all the appropriate materials and information before I left. They have adjusted tremendously well, eat healthily, and all animals in the storefront have an appropriate amount of space for their size. If you are anywhere in the capital district, Mikes your reptile guy.

2022-02-04Wanted to stop in on my way home from a road trip, walked inside and immediately get told they don’t have anything. a man was sitting in the chair and said “here’s the deal we aren’t even open so idk why you’re in here. what do you need” i started saying i was looking for cork bark but only got two words out before he yelled “no.” so i just turned and started to walk out and he started yelling at me again asking what i needed. if the business is closed then the open sign shouldn’t be out and the door should be locked.

2021-02-18The guy running it is odd and rude. He told me hes a school teacher but also the only person who runs the shop 10-5, 5 days a week. no price on anything, he told me hes the only person in the USA to own and breed pearl island boas,not true and ladies beware you wonder why all the reviews that are good are from females go figure and having 20 ball pythons in one enclosure isnt ideal a few of them where severely impacted 0 out of 10 for me and hes a pet peddler buy them and said he hatched them wont be going back neither will my girlfriend

2020-06-26Mike is truly one of the best breeders out there!! Look no further, all of his reptiles are super healthy, well bred, and beautiful!! I’ve bought multiple different reptiles from him from snakes to bearded dragons, I’ve never had any problem. He’s beyond knowledgeable and truly knows his craft. Be real and kind with him and he will be real and kind to you.

2020-12-15Me and my boyfriend walked in and he kicked us out because he was dumping water so we were told to come back in 5 minutes. We then came back in 5 minutes to which he told us we actually couldn’t be in the store and was very rude. He accused us of being minors (we’re both 19) and said we couldn’t be in the store because of the alligator you have to be 21 to be in the store yet didn’t tell us that before making us wait. He also tried saying he could sell us animals but not have us in the store.. makes no sense. He was extremely rude and now i’ll go buy my lights and tanks and feeder bugs somewhere else, I will never go back because I don’t want to give him any money. In addition, he also told someone I know who bought a bearded dragon there that heat mats are good for them.. not true. He doesn’t know what he’s talking about and is very rude and bad at business.

2018-12-20We have been looking for a somewhere to buy a ball python that was not from a big box store. We looked online for quite some time but its very hard to know what your getting or who you are really dealing with. While in the area Christmas shopping I stopped in and bought a beautiful snake. Mike was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. He really knows his stuff. After talking with him a while I know that we will make the drive back over whenever we need feeder mice or anything. ( he also breeds his own feeders) Really happy that I found him and could give my business to someone really passionate about what they do rather than some big company that just wants to sell sell.
