Got here on a Wednesday evening. Walked in and the place was bit busy. Got a place at the bar table as per the managers instructions. Grabbed couple of drinks and then reserved a table while sitting at the bar table. During reservation they get hold of your credit card details. The drinks are great. Ordered spicy calamari and it’s exceptional. Ordered some spicy tenderloin and it’s great a s well. Overall bit expensive but great place. Great experience. The manager was bit rude as we made reservation when we are still sitting at the bar table.
Overpriced for the quality of sushi. The menu is not even fascinating.I am extremely unhappy of this choice. 😔I rate a sushi place with their sashimi.I swear to God the sashimi at Central Market or Whole Foods is better well if you haven’t been to Houston these are upscale market places and believe when I say the sashimi is better it is!The miso soup which you can not miss like how can you mess that up? Was cold and had only one tofu piece 😂😂Ambiance is great.Music is great as well. The decor is amazing.Service is ok but did not like the unfair service. The server asked for my credit card to put on file but did not do the same to the person next to me. Should I call this racism or should I call this judgement of my outfit :)Do I have to put my Chanel purse like the lady next to me :) which I am wearing mine as well as with my boots but I don’t want to place my bag on the counter also the new fashion trend is baggy clothes 😊 anyway I’m dying laughing would I come back? never
We celebrated my husband’s 40th here in a private room and had an absolute blast. The service and the food were top notch. The bartender was great and the event manager Kelly was very easy to work with. The restaurant was very accommodating with us hiring a DJ. We celebrated at Matsu room, overlooking the main dining hall. It was a night to remember.
Since I have already been to Zuma Dubai, Zuma Rome and Zuma Mykonos, Zuma NY was - without any doubt - on my list for my first trip to New York. And I loved it!The service is the best, they manage to maintain great atmosphere, very classy yet very casual and friendly. The girl who was our server recommended great meals. We ordered salmon & tuna tartar, rock shrimp tempura, salmon & avocado roll (basic, but perfect), fatty tuna roll, chirashi, dynamite spider and all of them were so fresh and yummy :)We ordered roasted lobster as the “desert”, but when we saw deserts at the table near us - we had to have some of those, too. I would recommend cheese cake and Zuma signature lava cake - you just have to try them.
Very upsetting birthday experience! I have been a loyal customer of Zuma for many years and usually my experiences have been great especially on my last birthday. However, yesterday which was birthday the treatment was terrible. I made the reservation well in advance and the staff was aware that it was my birthday since I called in and asked them to move my reservation by half an hour yet they would not accommodate that. My friend and I arrived on time and to my surprise we got a small table behind the bar which was NOT what I was promised initially. I asked to be moved to another table and the hostess stated we are fully booked but can try to see whats available. She only had another small table in the corner so we just stayed at the table. We waited over an hour to be able to place our food order and they completely forgot that it was my birthday. At the end I got a dessert without a candle or happy birthday written on the plate. This birthday I felt really ignored and they ruined my special day which cannot be redone. As mentioned in previous reviews it seemed like people with Louboutin shoes and Chanel purses would get amazing service and my friend saw the staff carry a birthday cake elsewhere. I just recovered from a knee injury and was limping in flats and the table was not suited for my needs yet no one seemed to care. I noticed that the staff from last year didnt work there anymore and they were truly spectacular! As a contrast Nobu has always accommodated me and showed me attention and respect as a loyal customer especially during my time of injury. NOT coming back to Zuma NY!
The best Japanese in NYC! If its your 1st time I recommend the omakase (tasting menu) get a little bit of everything from apps to sushi to entrees to dessert. Now you will know what you like every time you return. You will definitely return. Outside the the tasting menu the I recommend the wagyu gunken, torched salmon sushi, and the special Toro Maki. The Tomahawk steak was mouth watering!
Very modern, great atmosphere. I was there for a business dinner in one of the private rooms on the 2nd floor. Food and service was excellent. The rest of the restaurant looked good as well. Even the bathroom was very zen. It was a week night but it was busy still. Very enjoyable.
The tuna and salmon tartare was the worst we’ve ever had. Fish should be chopped, not smashed like puree. For 30$ we expected fresh chunks of tuna, not leftover shushi! The rest of the food was amazing.Be careful when ordering an extra shot of alcohol for your drink - the single shot for us was almost as much as the entire coctail.
Although I was in Zuma Miami few times already, it is my first time in Zuma NYC. I heard so much about this place and it didnt disappoint me on my expectations. The ambiance, the decor and of course the food was straight up top notch! Although it is the same franchise, the NYC location is very different in size and the tone. I would say the NYC is more classic and romantic as Miami one is more light and social. Once you there you are absolutely cant miss their signature dish - Black cod, it is simply delicious! I really enjoy this place and will be back again.
Very enjoyable atmosphere, food is delicious and the drink choices are good.Atmosphere is good for an intimate dinner and the service was really good, the servers were polite and knowledgeable, everything came out timely and cooked to perfection. We had everything from steaks to sushi and sashimi. I would recommend this place to locals and visitors alike. Also, if you want to go and grab a drink, the bar is not bad, obviously cocktails are on the pricier side for NY venues but they are well made and tasty.
I came here last month with my boss for time and I was very pleased with the service. For someone who has allergies they made it very comfortable for me to eat without being scared. They made sure to let me know exactly what I could and couldnt have down to when they brought the food out to our table. The service was very on point and they made sure to make me feel comfortable without having to panic.
Not worth the money, unpleasant lunch experience. We went there for lunch and were seated right away with a reservation. It took the staff around 20 minutes to notice us and even offer water or drinks prior to taking our food order! Once the order was placed, the food came pretty quick; however, it was not that good. The beef stick meat was chewy, shrimp tempura had no taste, sushi, and sashimi was okay. We also noticed that the staff preparing the food was not wearing gloves and kept touching their mask, then taking trips to the main kitchen touching the door and coming back to finish the food. Overall experience was very disappointing; there are much better restaurants within that price range.
Overall I was pretty happy with my experience except for maybe the Toro. I didnt find it to be quite as good as some other places Ive been.... Im used to it having a buttery texture that kind of dissolves in your mouth. This was a little more chewy. Otherwise, I thought the ambiance was nice and the staff was very helpful. I wish there was a way to rate this 4.5 stars and would recommend it to my friends.
Great celebratory meal with all the best dishes. I have been to a several other Zuma’a around theworld in Dubai, Bangkok, and London but this was probably my best meal at all of them. We have several great selections including the lobster and the Wagu beef which melted in our mouths. The waitress also recommended a terrific toro roll which wasn’t on the menu but was probably one of the best sushi roles I have had. I would defiantly return to this Zuma when in NY.
It is a place for a celebration time not to enjoy a good dish! Unbalanced price-quality for all dishes, NY has a wide variety of Michelin star and high cuisine restaurants for a significant lower price and higher dining experience and service than Zuma.If looking for a good drinking time, good music and a lot of social media posts this is the place. If looking for HIGH CUISINE or service THIS IS NOT THE PLACE.
Had another great experience at Zuma on a Friday night. They are dealing well with the Covid guidelines and made us feel comfortable through your visit. Excellent food quality as expected with a great cocktail list to keep you entertained all through the evening. Excellent atmosphere and service. Will definitely be back soon! Some of the freshest and best tasting sushi around.
I am going to start with the negative since it’s just that little , a reservation is a request for service therefore even if you reserve the main stage you might end up by the bar. Now to the good staff great food , great drinks , this is the third Zuma I go to and the quality is excellent. I would suggest to try the Japanese sour , it’s like an old fashion whisky but better. That drink is good in Miami , Hong Kong abs New York it’s amazing lol. Overall amazing experience just be warned main stage might not be main stage go with that mindset and you will be fine.
Food was subpar at best. They say the food is supposed to be shared, making you think large portions of food would come out but in reality 3 main courses won’t even fill one person up. Don’t even get me started on the prices. One king crab leg is $80…. Are you joking…. The only positive thing was that the servers were very kind. Bottom line you can go to any other restaurant and get 10x better food for only a fraction of the price.
We decided to have dinner at Zuma on two weeks ago to celebrate my sister birthday. Once we arrived, we grabbed a drink at the bar and then were seated about 15 minutes after our reservation time. Once seated, we were greeted by Samir and Allison who were very friendly. For drinks we ordered the Japanese old fashioned, lychee and rose petal martini and the Japanese margarita. The drinks were amazing, definitely recommend the martinis. For appetizers we ordered the rock shrimp and crispy calamari as well as a miso soup and chicken skewers. Appetizers were amazing and the calamari is a must try. We also ordered the grilled branzino ,king crab and the o toro and salmon for sushi, also really good. The king crab was definitely a smaller portion though. While eating dinner we were also visited by Chef Andrew who checked in on us to make sure everything was going well. Throughout the night the service was impeccable! Samir, Allison, Andrew and Faruk made our dinner amazing. Also, for dessert be sure to order the Zuma deluxe dessert platter, so good! Shoutout to the amazing staff that took care of us and cant wait to be back.
The staff came over to our table TOO frequently. My friend and I were both annoyed. It was hard to carry on a conversation without someone coming over and interrupting. I’ve worked in the service industry myself and do appreciate attentive service but it was too much.
Such a trendy spot in NYC. Dishes are served big and are inspired for sharing. We had the Signature tasting that is prepared by the chef, and it is supposed to include the best dishes. We felt that it was too much food. Maybe better option is to share plates. Food was Good...we fell in love with restaurant design, service and ambience. Great place for any ocasión!!! Bar area also very popular
FOOD POISONING—DO NOT DINE HERE!I was at Zuma last night for a friend’s birthday dinner. We had a table reserved for 9:00pm and were told several times during booking of the “strict 90 minute” time slot per table. We arrived 15 min early as suggested and still waited over 45 minutes from when our reservation started to be seated because we were waiting for the previous party to leave after they already paid. There were 3 other parties waiting with us—I don’t understand how you can reiterate a “strict 90 minute dining policy” while allowing 4 parties to wait over 45 minutes to be seated.Food: 3 of us ate sushi rolls while only 1 ate veggies and all 3 of us who ate fish (raw & cooked) got food poisoning and are sick. The food in general was sub-par for the price, I guess you are paying for the atmosphere. Paying $20 per roll to get food poisoning, I definitely would not recommend. There are so many better Japanese restaurants to dine at in NYC.Overall, it is so bad I give you a zero—but that’s not possible on Google reviews, so I give you a 1.
I’ve been to Zuma multiple times prior to COvID and it has always been a hit! Sadly this time around it was a real disappointment. Maybe they took a real big hit from COvID but their portioning and service has really god down. We got the premium omakase and don’t get me wrong the food is still excellent but the omakase used to have much larger portioning and much more food. For the price of the premium we got much more food in the signature omakase. As for the service, it took at least an hour between each course which left us hungover and wanting more at the end of the meal.
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR OMAKASE EXPERIENCIE “LUNCH” YOU SHOULD READ THIS POST!!we went for lunch and ordered the omakase menu! @usd 80 per person!! we expected to eat special sushi, however, they served cucumber uramaki with avocado, spicy salmon, 3 pieces of nigiri and a starter served a white fish carpaccio!! then they served roasted corn, a piece of roast beef, chefs rice, fried calamari!! sorry to go to the restaurant like zuma, pay 80 dollars of omakase not to serve anything different... we thought the chef would prepare some different sushi!! It was very disappointing, and I dont recommend it!! the only thing that saved it was the dessert that really made an impact!! otherwise nothing impressive!!
I have been to Zuma more times than I can count in both London and Hong Kong and absolutely love it so decided to go with my partner to the New York one whilst I. Holiday. The worst experience I’ve had in any restaurant, let alone a favourite! They have let down the Zuma name and I’m now doubting I will ever go back to any based on principal. The service was horrific, the tasting menu came out continuously without any time between any dish, like we were supposed to eat everything in 20 minutes! I asked a total of 8 times for them to slow down, each time being told that they would inform the chef .. whilst bringing another 5 dishes to the table. The black cod is always a favourite of mine but it was sooo overcooked I couldn’t eat the sorry excuse of rubbery fish. I had to give up and stop them from bringing more food because I was so annoyed at being ignored and being presented with substandard dishes. I was then presented with the most awful woman who blamed me for the cold food because I went outside for a cigarette to calm down (I only went out after giving up and telling them to stop because I was so annoyed) she was super aggressive and didn’t want to help or listen so we ended up leaving and still paying for one of the tasting menus (one too many but I was being nice) I will never go back here and urge others to try Zuma in other locations but definitely not this farce of an establishment. I bid you farewell.
This was one of the finest dining experiences Ive ever had and I love fine dining! My sister and I went to Zuma before the theatre. The service of our meal was like a finely tuned production. The service of dishes were nicely spaced. The service was friendly and efficient. Each dish was gorgeous and tasty. Even the bathrooms were cool in a place with very posh decor. I cant wait to dine here again on future trips to the city!
As a nurse that is fighting in front line due to COVID, best way to get appreciated is by good food! Thank you Zuma for the free food you gave me at Four Seasons Hotel.Location: I got the food while I am at Four Seasons Hotel.Service: I got the food at the refrigerator. It was delivered fresh everyday.Food: Everyday they deliver it at Four Seasons. I love all the food! There is also vegan options. I don’t know the name of the exact food but here is my favorite: KIMBAP, SALMON with fried tofu, TRUFFLE CHICKEN salad, AVOCADO QUINOA salad. Sometimes they bring MATCHA pound cake and home baked OREO cookies which I love!Thank you so much for giving me free food! I do appreciate it. I am definitely going here when this pandemic is gone.
There are 3 amazing Japanese fusion restaurants in NYC that are also cool: Bondst, Nobu, and best of all Zuma. Perfect mix of atmosphere, food, and service. Atmosphere: mega main dining room with an open view of the Robata grill with a more intimate upstairs lounge and trendy bar area playing upbeat music to set the vibes. Food: AMAZING. Recommend basically everything. Grilled Branzino and the Truffle hot pot are memorable. Drinks and amazing. Lychee Vodka Martini and the Mexican Zombie are top. Service is very professional. Jonathan made experience fantastic in particular. I’ve gone to Zuma countless times, and look forward to dining there again very soon. Must go in NYC.
I give it 5 Stars because although I do not like Japanese food. The salad and spicey steak tenderloin was delicious. Also the green tea , passion fruit drink was delish! The restaurants ambiance was really good too. Nice and clean. Great for businesses lunches and even for a cute dinner date .
To die for food. I had a great experience in this restaurant. The service was awesome. Since this restaurant has franchise in many places and I would love to go and try in all places. From appetizers to main course and from dessert to drinks everything was so so good. Must try place.
I love this restaurant. One of my favorite spots. Prices are high but it’s totally worth it for the quality of food. Make a reservation if you want a good table. The raspberry passion fruit martini is delicious. My favorite dish is the yellowtail jalapeño in ponzu sauce. Perfect place for a date.
Second time here. Food was great...our bill ended up being $2400 for 10 people...🙄. Great food and desserts. The staff was OK. Expected better since not everyone got the menu, we had to share and service was a little slow, maybe coz it was on a sunday..anyway first time here it was so much better but I might still go back, not any time soon thought.
Outstanding experience, both in terms of the food, which was delicious, but also in terms of the service, which was flawless. We had a very knowledgeable waiter, that recommended very delicious dishes- we loved the corn, the wagyu truffle sushi, the tenderloin beef, and, the highlight, the dessert platter with the chocolate signature dessert. Absolutely delicious, totally recommend stopping by here for an unforgettable dinner.
Amazing private dining experience overlooking the whole restaurant. This is perfect for a special occasion or with a fun group of friends. The food is delicious and the presentation is world class. The service is attentive but understated. I recommend a number of things to share — an extravagant sushi boat is amazing! Also, the dessert platters are impressive. Flavourful, with something for everyone.
I didnt actually get to get a drink or eat here. I was in the second floor reviewing the space for an event. But they have really put their attention to detail. Very beautiful elements make up the space. I can imagine this must be a great space for a private event or even a drink.
Had two great experiences this week - it is a gorgeous restaurant, the bartenders were really friendly, and all of the food was outstanding. I will definitely be returning on my next trip to New York. The tempura prawns were outstanding - the batter wasn’t too heavy and overbearing. Ask about the in-house made ice cream flavors - the strawberry/raspberry flavor was awesome.
Yummy food, looks incredible artistic!I keep coming to Zuma and tried their lunch package. The grilled salmon and escalope are super yum, the salad is fresh and the dressing is lovely. Try the dessert...its not only delicious, it looks beautiful and carefully crafted.Happy to recommend it and go back again here
The first time I came here with my boyfriend we both agree that food was phenomenal but service was not impressive to say the least, and I was going to give the restaurant 4 stars. The second time we were completely satisfied with everything: service, atmo, the level of music, and food s end to remain the high level of Japanese cuisine (we only tried Japanese dishes here). Fresh sushi, great black cod, interesting new creations ) try seared salmon wrapped around shiso leaf.
I visited here during the restaurant week and was generally satisfied. But I dont think I will visit here when its not a promotion period. The food was definitely better than the average japanese restaurants but I doubt its worth the price and the portion. Rolls were really, really good though and they are not that expensive compared to the other menus. So if Im visiting here again. i will focus on the roll menus. Service was very good.
One of my absolute most favorite restaurants in Manhattan. Every bite you eat is excellent. They have some of the best cocktails, my favs are Lychee Rose martini and Burning History, but you cant go wrong with anything on the menu. The service is amazing and the place is beautiful. Definitely order the dessert thats not on the menu, its the Zuma special dessert. Outstanding overall. @traveleen_gurl
Restaurant has beautiful decor. Ordered the sashimi, spicy tofu, and the banana leaf fish. The fish was very fresh and tender. But the spicy tofu was my favorite! Amazing spices and the fried tofu was simply divine. And to finish it off, the chocolate cake with ice cream. Rich and bold in flavor.
Excellent, the loss of the star is because we asked for a booth and were told that there was a wait for booths.....no one sat at the booths. We went for lunch at 2pm. So I was just otbhappy about the seating and the lie.On a happier note the food...excellent. The waitstaff, excellent, the decor excellent, the drinks, excellent, the desserts, excellent.A must do.
We had ostensibly come to try out the restaurant week menu, but in the end plumped for the standard menu instead as it looked more interesting. It was good that we did as it turns out it gives you buffet service at the counter, which we hadnt realised. Probably because we decided what we wanted pretty quickly and our server didnt get a chance to ask us whether it was our first time here or not.In addition to the buffet service you get a free drink, fried calamari and a main dish. Everything else (including desserts) is self-service from the various counters. One thing we did notice, for the brunch service at least, was that there was no real drinks menu given. There were some brunch alcoholic drinks listed at the top, but when I asked whether there were any non-alcoholic drinks available the waitress had to recite 4 of them. She later had to do the same for the table behind us. I suggest they actually put this down on the menu as it saves everyone a lot of time. I had the iced green tea and passion fruit cocktail, which was nice. I mentally rolled my eyes at the last option of a virgin mojito, but thats because thats what EVERYONE always offers as a non-alcoholic cocktail. The service did seem a little confused at times as our mains didnt come at the same time, mine came 10 minutes later. In fact we werent sure when they were supposed to turn up so whilst I waited for mine I went to get some miso soup. Unfortunately, the station was empty and one of the managers said theyd bring it to my table. They never did, but I finally received my main shortly afterwards. The food itself was good for the most part, though some of the sashimi and sushi were kind of uninteresting. Much preferred the hot counter food. The roast pork buns were particularly nice. Probably would have gotten more of them if they hadnt kept running out, though that could be a blessing in disguise for my waist line. 8) That was the case for other items that were popular, they didnt get restocked very quickly. The restaurant is beautifully designed and not too loud even with it being mostly full. There looked to be dining areas above too.Do note that they dont show all their seatings on Opentable for Sunday brunch. If it looks like theyre booked out then try their website online system. We had assumed this might be the case but managed to do a walk-in as we got there early on.
You cant go wrong with Zuma.Although it looks like a huge high end restaurant chain (which most of times cant hold its quality), Zuma proves otherwise year after year. The black cod is a must. All fishes seems and tastes fresh with perfect flavor, odor and colors. You may try others oriental restaurants, but give Zuma a try!
At Zuma, you connect with food on another level. The chicken and lobster appetizer were delicious. The black cod and beef tenderloin entrées were incredible. The setting is a classic of trendy NY restaurants: dark, with music, waiters dressed in black. The experience, both culinary and visual, is exceptional.
I’ve been to Zuma twice now and I must say that the dinning experience has been excellent both times ! It’s been for work functions that I’ve had the pleasure of coming here and it’s for good reason we’ve conducted meeting here more than once . However the staff you initially encounter could use a bit more training and coaching on uniform client reception , enough though it’s very brief interaction with them it does stain the experience since you encounter them upon entry and exist .
Absolutely terrible. I took my girlfriend there yesterday for her birthday, mentioned it to them before hand. Made no mention of it at all. The waiter was clearly not trained. Knew absolutely nothing about the menu. Even gave me a regular spoon for the miso soup !!! In addition, he forgot to put in multiple food items, and LEFT halfway through our dinner and didn’t even tell us nor another waiter. Because of that, no other server came to us for around 30-45 minutes. Because of that, we ended up asking a food runner if they could grab us the check. GO TO NOBU INSTEAD.
Got the lunch Omakase and it was worth it. Good Vibe, Good Service and good variety in the choices. Great spot for drinks as well. Also, got back 26 percent from the Seated App!! Downloaded it and use my code: Peter729 to get some cash back and enjoy eating at great spots like Zuma!
It’s OK. Very pricey for what is _decent_ food. The avocado tofu salad was not great, but maybe that’s personal preference. The signature ribeye was good but the meat was overpowered by the sauce and garnish. The off-menu semi fatty tuna sashimi dish we had was very good (six thinly sliced pieces in sauce with sesame and shishito peppers). My friend who ordered medium steak got some very chewy rare steak. Would be a good place to eat at half the price. Nice atmosphere though.
Ive wanted to try this place quite a long time and this year I saw them among restaurant week promo and immediately booked for lunch. The first impression was great, specious place, two floors designed with high wood ceilings and stones in decor (Japanese style), nice bar area and very comfortable chairs😊. I got the items from #therestaurantweek special menu:🔹Miso soup -was ok, like everywhere else🔹Salmon tartare - it came like pâté with a piece of crispy lotus and crispy rice toast, was delicious with a touch of yuzu🔹4oz. flank steak - was below average🔹Yuzu cheesecake with raspberry sorbet - yummy liked it the most 😋 for an additional charge, but I got it on the house 🤫............... When I arrived at around 2 pm they were a little busy, so I waited for food around 20-25 min. First served miso and salmon tartare and after the steak came raw when I asked for medium-well 😔. Had to return to the kitchen [yup Im a bad customer🤨], they over 🔥🔥🔥 and it came this time burned [message from a chef- dont like row......eat it burned]. Seeing my 😥😥 a server pleasantly offered to remake it even I asked not to. The second try was better but chewy and dry. You might think well-done steak cant be delicious and I ruined the meat, however, I always eat well-done meat and trust me Ive tried better, they exist!! Also, I believe, talented chefs can make great steak at any temperature. If you are like me dont order steak here.Overall was an interesting experience. I liked the ambiance and dessert the most, service was good and attentive. Ill probably give another try for sushi next time.
Food was good. Calamari was nicely fried and seasoned; surprised it didnt come with any sauce. Id recommend you ask for the spicy mayo.Ordered the Fatty tuna, dynamite and prawn tempura sushi rolls. Definitely fresh and tasty but not anything to highlight. The rib eye with black truffle sauce was fantastic. The meat was standard but the sauce was amazing. I was even dipping my Wagyu in it.The corn and sweet potato side dishes are okay. The pecan ice cream sundae was very good.Overall its your typical trendy NYC spot.
Zuma NYC is one of my favs for sure. Expensive but worth every penny. The waiter / servers are always friendly and helpful. Cocktails are good and they have good wine selection. Any signature dish or fish dish will be sure to please. The sushi (specifically the “otoro”) is so dang good. One of our favorite servers/sommelier from Poland has left, but we still love everything they bring out. But MOST of all is the dessert platter/tray. The fruit is so fresh and crisp, and the CHOCOLATE LAVA CAKE is to die for!! See pic. Recommend 100%.
Fantasic Modern Japanese in the heart of Midtown. Large space with multiple sushi bars and table seating. Also what seemed to be a more lively lounge upstairs level. If you have enjoyed their Miami outpost this is a easy choice, if you are looking for sushi with some impressive co-options and a thought through cocktail menu this is a great spot. Staff was attentive and knowledgeable.
Zuma is amazing, as always. They renovated the second floor recently, and , in my eyes, made it more comfortable. Very nice floral design downstairs, so it’s a perfect place for the first date.As usual, fish is fresh. Black cod and truffle risotto is a must! Also try their salmon and tuna tartar. And let yourself enjoy their banana ice cream . Delicious 👌🏼I don’t remember the name of our waitress, but she provided a terrific service. It’s always a pleasure to come back at this place.
Went on the Friday after Valentines Day and I dont knowif they got destroyed the night before or what. Cocktails atthe bar were quite well done.Hostess came to seat us, only to arrive at unpreparedtable and be taken back to the bar. Once seated again, had to wait 20mins just to get drink order taken.Once our food order was taken about another 20minslater. The food came out in a strange order. Then whileeating, server came by to say the kitchen was closing, weadvised her our steak and calamari hadnt come out yet.She said the steak was on the way but it appeared thatour calamari had been forgotten, as it magicallyappeared. Unfortunately, it was most definitely not worththe wait. It was extremely bland and dry. I guess at least itwasnt rubbery but I had to drink it in soy sauce to get anytype of flavour out of it.The bill was about the only thing epic about thisexperience. Which was regrettable, as we had such highhopes based on the Vegas reviews.
You can see photos of the food and the photos of the interior. Zuma looks like something from a magazine or story book. It would be easy to be intimidated. Often there is a tradeoff between what feels like an elite experience, and elitism.Zuma gracefully delivers, specifically Allison and Flores delivers. With warm welcomes, attentive but not obsequious service, they elevated what is a great restaurant to transcendent experience.Youll go because its Zuma, but youll return because of its staff.
You get what you pay for. This is a scene to see.Sublime staff and a meal actually worthy of both enjoying and posting.Everyone in search of haute cuisine in a divine setting should schedule this diamond in a neighborhood sweet enough to walk off the exquisite meal afterward.
Corporate events, intimate dates, etc. This is a see and be seen sort of place where food isn’t the main draw but deserves some compliment. For example the garnishes on heavy meat entrees shouldn’t be overlooked; nicely pickled or dressed, they cut some of the fat. Lighting not exactly optimized for Instagram.
Zuma is great. Best old fashioned Ive had to date (with japanese whiskey). The food is a 5/5 with some of the freshest sushi around. The wasabi is grinded fresh tableside and the risotto with shaved truffles would make Gordon Ramsay proud. The crab and beef dishes were top notch. Upscale dining but you definitely get your moneys worth. Well done!
I went to Zuma with my sister and father, the food was really good and the decoration was very nice. Unfortunately I saw 3 times people stand up without their masks and walk all the way across the restaurant while the staff watched and said absolutely nothing. I think this just shows the lack of covid awareness at this place and because of that I will not be recommending this place.
One of my favorite places in the city. Great to go to for special occasions. Sushi is really fresh and equivalent to high end omakase quality. Miso cod, red pepper filet, and mushroom rice are always staple order. Also the corn is my fav. Green tea banana cake is by far the best dessert.
AC was out 6/29/21. Room temp nearly 90 degrees. Management chose to NOT notify guests in advance (fearing a slow night?) & let us suffer instead. Be forewarned: Zuma NYC IS DECLINING QUICKLY. Rude staff. Average food. Ah, but they take such pride instructing you to drink soup without a spoon. Yay!
Its difficult to put into words how awesome the atmosphere and food is at Edge. Our waiter Bobby recommended my wife the best wine she had ever tasted. The steak and lobster was simply magnificent. I would highly recommend Edge to anyone that wants the best New York has to offer.
Booked through OpenTable for Thursday eveningShowed up 10 minutes earlyTold they could only put us on the counter as no tables were availableI’ve dined at Zuma many times in London and Miami and they are amongst my favorite joints — Zuma NY staff needs to learn how to deal with customers (and how to take reservations)Arjun Wahni hope you read this
Very opulent environs serving high end Japanese cuisine. Drinks are very high quality and food plates are well designed and arranged. Restrooms are a journey across Middle Earth to get to, but once there the journey becomes worth the trouble - restrooms are really nicely appointed and very clean. Prices are understandably on the higher side but the dining experience what with the highly courteous and responsive staff makes everything worth the enormous bill at the end.
Zuma was an incredible dining experience that I can’t recommend enough. Reservations were easy to make. We were greeted quickly and provided our choice of seating in a very stylish interior. Words don’t do the food justice, everything was amazing! Our dishes were made perfectly and complimented by delicious drinks. Our server Giada was also amazing and definitely made the experience more enjoyable. She was very knowledgeable of the menu and recommended a few drinks and dishes that we loved. Thank you again! Overall, I will return to Zuma time and time again and recommend it to everyone I know visiting the city!
Probably one of the nicest restaurants I’ve ever been too, Zuma boasts of aesthetically pleasing decor and a high end vibe. This place has amazingly high quality food and it DOES NOT come cheap. We came in with my girlfriend’s family for her birthday and got a round of cocktails and the premium Omakase (grand tasting). From what I remember (that night was a bit blurry) they gave us each one of every popular menu item they offer as well as numerous pieces of sushi and lobster tempura. I was never a big fan of sushi or Asian fusion for that matter but Zuma definitely changed that. Everything about this place took me from the moment we walked in. The architecture itself is beautiful. The dining area, the bathrooms; A very nice modern yet elegant touch. The food was phenomenal. The sushi was fresh, the cocktails weren’t watered down and you can taste the premium alcohol they use with each sip. They even have 10 year old aged wasabi. This food was unlike any other Japanese food I ever tried. There’s really not a single bad thing I can say about this place. Take a look at the pictures posted! Each one is captioned!
Zuma was excellent as always. This was our 4th time dining in a private room with a large group. We were 14 this time and the service and the food were excellent. It is a very special place with the nicest staff. The food is not only delicious, but presented so beautifully! Thank you for another memorable evening. We have eaten in the main dining also a few times with smaller groups. The service, food and atmosphere was fantastic as well.
The food was Immaculate. You must try the chicken on the menu. The sushi was great and the chocolate lava cake was great. I would highly recommend this place it is very professional and it took a very long time to get a reservation to hear. This is no coincidence they are seriously the top of the line
Beautiful interior with a welcoming staff. The bar set up is nice. The place is high-end but not particularly sure if their sushi is that much better than some local mom and pop shops around the area. Still, a great place to splurge if you want a date night or a family outing.
Would not recommend for authentic Japanese cuisine. Although the food itself is fresh and tasty, the staff is not familiar with the menu, the items are more Asian fusion based, and the portions are very small. There are many other better places for authentic Japanese food/sushi.
Been to Zuma 5 or 6 times with the same group of 10 people and ALWAYS had a great experience. What we experienced last night completely changed our perspective. Drinks came out and went to the wrong people or just didn’t come out at all...steaks came out before sushi and then small plates/apps followed (those that ended up coming out). Mains came out at all different times and 2 of our guests never got their main courses at all. Aside from being a complete mess and extremely stressful experience, management did not seek to make things right at ALL. Used to rave about and recommend this place to everybody but we will NOT be coming back.
Summary: firing on all cylinders (sp?) - ambiance, food, and serviceAmbiance: awesome decor - walk in to the foyer and its full of flowers across the ceiling. Very nice atmosphere inside - great seating and aisle space.Food/drinks: from the sushi to main entrees (lobster, chicken and steak) everything was done right and tasty. Favorite was definitely the lobster. Fair portions too. Got the Bishonen and that was a good twist and tasty.Service: waitress was very attentive but gave us enough space to have a good conversation. Nice touch to have the assistant GM come by too.
Zuma is a tale of strong positives and strong negatives that, I guess, averages out to a 3 star join.First the positives: the place is extremely hip and has a great vibe to it. I had dinner with three colleagues and sat in a comfortable (but also very cool) couch seating area. More importantly, the food is very good. Avocado / asparagus salad, rob eye steak, black code -- all excellent. The Japanese sweet potato was also great. The tempura tiger prawns were average. Now, the negatives. Portions are extremely small for the price. The waitstaff is creepy -- and I mean that sincerely. They seem drugged and sloshy. My waiter kept grinning at me as if he had just escaped an asylum or simply wanted to eat me. When I arrived I checked my suit jacket and gym bag. When I left they gave me only my gym bag. I inquired about my jacket and they let me know that it was stuffed in my suit jacket. Seriously. I will not return.
This restaurant was my first love when I used to live in London. I came here to reminisce and enjoy the atmosphere that I have missed for all these years. Zuma NYC did not disappoint. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is lively, fit for foodies. Will come back!
Great appetizers , poor service. Dont go there if you are a large group , they cant manage it, and all the dishes are meant to share ...super difficult with the stingy main courses that come out randomly. The general manager is arrogant and not helpful and should be dismissed.
My husband and I had a great experience at Zuma NYC. Food was delicious! We also had great service and the restaurant staff was very accommodating to my husbands allergies to shellfish and crustaceans. They made sure to double check that our order was free of allergens. It is very rare to have Asian restaurants that caters to these allergies. Thank you very much !
Exceptionally cool surroundings, vibe and staff - along with a pretty darn tasty menu. From the salmon sashimi to the filet of beef cut into little cubes, the ghost peppers (I think that is what they were) to the hot pot of sticky delicious rice, everything, including the service, the wine, the cocktails, etc was top notch and very enjoyable. We loved our meal here and would come back in a heartbeat when in Manhattan.
I had a very disappointing experience tonight. I went to Zuma at least four times in the past and ordered the set premium menu and I really enjoyed. But tonight, It was clear the quality of food dropped, I ate average food that are not worth the price. In summary, they increased the price and offered cheap average food. It was embarrassing for me as I had invited friends to come with me. I seriously don’t recommend anymore. I even gave them feedback and the waiters kept on saying that the changes were minimal. It is sad and frustrating.
Zuma is very upscale, the decor is amazing and the food was very good.We had the steak, black cod and miso chicken on cedar plank - best dish of the three. This is a trendy spot with very good looking people working there and a smart crowd as well. The attitude is on the snooty side. This place is perfect for spending a lot of money on a meal.
We got a 1 chopstick 1 soya One napkin For an order of 2 people , Whats more, the wasabi was on a piece of the roll, literally ruined the whole meal, because they chose to reduce everything in a small box, I visit restaurants all the time and I did not encounter such stinginess!!!!
Zuma is one of our favorites ever. It is a modernized Japanese style cuisine. We first tried Zuma in Dubai and it was really great food. We miss it so much when we move back here in the US and cannot be more happy that they have it here in NYC. Anything on the menu is amazing. Sushi and sashimi is what they are famous for. For us, we love the Seared Tuna or the Tuna Tartare as an appetizer. The black cod for the main course is a must try, just really good! For the dessert, the sampler is amazing if you want to try almost all their desserts ($20 each person). But if you want to indulge on just one dessert as they are so good, we love the chocolate molten cake or the mocha bamboo dessert.
This place is dope simply amazing, atmosphere will impress a date. Food was again amazing I ordered ribs well done and for once its was cooked to perfection. There dishes are impressive. Prices ranges from adorable to high end. Service was splendid. Will be revisiting
Went here for lunch before and decided to try dinner on a Sunday evening. Earlier in the day called 3 times for reservations but no answer. Upon arrival the young blond hostess was extremely snotty and did not greet our party even after seeing us enter. We had to approach and initiate. When I asked if reservations were need, she simply said (in a rude, unapologetic and condescending tone) they were booked and that there was nothing wrong with the phone and that someone should have answered since three of these hostesses were on standby the whole time. Food was so-so and bland, maybe because the service at the front desk left a bad taste. I thought my previous lunch experience was much better. After dinner no one at the front said anything as we were leaving. It seemed as though they were trying to avoid guests. Again I had to initiate by saying thank you to the supposed hostesses that just completely ignore me. Extremely rude and terrible service. Will not be back.
Went there last night for the first time. Our waiter was horrible I placed a order and he never put it in and when I complained he shrugged me off as if he didn’t care. He did not try to accommodate me or anything but once the manager came over she was outstanding. I would go back but never get Bernie for a waiter he’s horrible. They sent another waiter Ben and he was amazing. For the price you pay the service should be better. Food was great though!
Ok but not great. Apparently you must have reservations for a near empty seated area in order to dinner there. Not worth the trouble if hostesses on a power trip. Bar tenders very nice. I wont be returning, Ill go where I feel welcome. Hope that hostess feels great about putting me in my place.
Mass market Japanese, set up for corporate events. This is a massive two story restaurant. The bottom floor is regular table serving while upstairs is a set of large rooms for corporate events. The food is good, but not as nice as the the one I went to in Hong Kong. Its just too large to become anything more than a factory spitting out good, but not great Japanese food. The settings are very modern and the service is solid.
The manager treats the chef very bad and disrespectful. Lots of workers left the company as soon as they get to know the working atmosphere. As for the food, it is not authentic Japanese food and they charged way higher than the dishes itself deserve. If you want real Japanese food, visit east village!

2022-03-19Zuma never disappoints! My husband and I have been to Zuma in London, Istanbul, Dubai and this time it was in our hood in New York! We live so close, but never ended up going there somehow. The food and service were amazing! We ordered dumplings, soft shell crab, tenderloin steak, mushroom rice, tofu salad, and beef skewers…..and we ate them all!! Drinks were good too, though we stuck to whiskey and Prosecco. So, can’t comment much on the cocktails. The music, am romance and professionalism of the staff was high standard. They also have great space for private events. I would go there again!

2022-06-01Stunning quality food, brilliant service. Having been to the London Zuma, we were keen to try the NYC version. It was as good...if not better! Our server was fab, friendly and helpful. The food is top drawer. We had a mixture of dishes and I would struggle to pick my favourite! Scallops...Ribeye...Calamari, the list goes on.Not the cheapest eat, but wonderful. Will be back again hopefully.

2022-04-23Why I can’t give you 10 stars? This is a fabulous restaurant that celebrates life and all the tastes that it can offer :) everything that we tried was the best including fish and meat dishes (even though I rarely eat meat). Despite us being pretty surprised by the quality of the food and ingredients, nothing prepared us for the absolutely fantastic dessert that we had. I highly recommend this place!

2022-05-23Zuma never disappoints! My wife and I have been to Zuma New York multiple times and we love it!The food and service were amazing! We ordered dumplings, soft shell crab, tenderloin steak, mushroom rice, tofu salad, and beef skewers.Drinks were good too, definitely ask for their Sake. The ambiance of this place is AMAZING, as well as the signature drinks/ wine list. However, this time around, the service was a bit on the slow side, likely as theyre still ramping up to full capacity after covid. Overall, the food was solid, and well plated, but a little pricey for nothing special. Generally, a good experience!

2022-06-11Branding was SUPERB. All the rest was very good too. Real FINE QUISINE.Atmosphere was great.Waiter was very nice and helpful, yet rather a bit to pushy. Pulled back only after we ordered wine and cocktails. Experience was nicer had he pushed less.

2022-05-15Went to Zuma NY for the first time last night and what an amazing meal. We each chose the Signature Omakase and it was phenomenal! Natalie our waitress took super great care of us and made the whole evening a special experience. Loved the atmosphere, the music and the ambiance. The music was great and not so loud that we couldn’t converse. I wish more restaurants took note of that.

2022-03-24Service was good.We all went for the premium omakase, the sushi was disappointing, all else was good.I had much better experiences at less expensive locations. Quite disappointing set up of the table for 4 upstairs. I had to make a CEO of one of the largest organizations from the Netherlands sit on a couch during dinner? Come on, step your game up Zuma, or at least mention it with the reservation. Not going back for another business dinner, this place is more relaxed let’s say, unless you can manage to get a table downstairs.

2022-05-17Appetizers were delicious and good. Except odamami was a bit salty. Main courses one of the meat dishes it was burned even when I have ordered it medium. In my opinion the service was awesome, but it’s not worth that much of money for this taste. Not sure if it was just a bad experience or this is normal. The look for the food is amazing but I only care about taste here.
